Boycott is loving commentating to a batsman who always blocks. :p
I can understand that really.

Gillespie's the nearest thing to a proper opener Australia have got (actually he's the nearest thing to a proper opener in either side)

I can understand it too. I like Gillespie, he's so frustrating, and a perfect example of a tail ender who's value cannot be covered by his average. That 20 odd at Chennai where he batted for half a day against Kumble and Harbhajan was a match-saving innings. Here's hoping he does it again :p

Bah. I was about to say that Warne will be looking for the ton before the new ball is due - looks like he was looking for a ton before the end of the over. Oh well, hopefully Gillespie and co. can frustrate England for a little while yet.

It seems such a shame that one of the all-time greats isn't in all likelihood ever going to make it to three figures in a test match.

I was really rooting for him this time too.

Vaughan obviously has no faith what so ever in Hoggard talk about hero to zero since the SA tour.

Excellent knock from Warnie really pulled Australia out of the proverbial
Not really. They're still knee-deep in it.

Very frustrating end to his innings from Warne. I don't want to knock the innings too much, because it makes the top order look very foolish (even if he would have been comfortably out twice if not for Geraint Jones), but it was very important to continue occupying the crease for as long as possible today.

Even in the context of his own statistics it was frustrating. At 90, he could have just played a little safer until he got to the century mark.

Oh, well. He's still been the player of the series up to this point pretty comfortably as far as Australia's concerned. I just wish he'd got there.

Why would he be bowling at the moment?

I think you'll still find that Hoggard will be opening the bowling with the new ball come the second innings.

Simon Jones is proving himself to be a tremendous old-ball bowler and Giles is keeping the other end tight.

Live by the sword, die by the sword.

When I heard the sound off the bat, I thought he'd plonked it into the crowd.

Another example of how cutting off boundaries with players on the ropes has produced a wicket.

Hope Ponting learns from that.

Must say that the wicket does not appear to have much in it for the seamers - Jones being effective because he bowls excellent reverse swing and that doesnt rely on the pitch.

Giles looks friendly as well so it will be interesting to see how Warne does.

Agree with you on Simon Jones who has bowled superbly.

But looking at Hoggard in general this series 6 overs out of over 80 in this test. If you go back to the last test only 8 in the first innings and 5 in second. You would expect an opening bowler to be bowling more.
