Strangely enough, that's true (although highly unlikely) - a mouth-watering prospect.

However, looking at the talent that appears to be not exactly forcing its way past the zimmer frames in the Australian side, we would in all likelihood not need him.
But in looking at the depth of the english spinners, warnie in all likelyhood could possibly be the best spinner in the county system by a country mile, meaning he would be an automatic pick in the english side of 2010!!!

Does anyone else think hussey should replace katich ??
The english struggled against him and his record and experience in england is superb.

Bit harsh if you ask me. The older members of the Australian squad are holding their positions on the basis of performance, not lack of competition. Gillespie and Hayden are the two seriously out of form Australians, and they both have immediate replacements knocking on the door in Kasprowicz (or Tait) and Hussey (or Jaques). There are depth issues with spin bowling, but everywhere else Australia is fairly well covered by talent at home. Australia might well get knocked off from number 1 in the near future, but it won't be a plummet down the table with the quality of batsmen at the very least who are waiting outside the team.

Why is everyone so desperate to drop Katich at every turn? It's ridiculous, he's done nothing wrong.

I'd be comfortable with Hussey replacing Hayden next summer.

If Australia's last 3 wickets can somehow squeeze out 100 or so this morning, it's still a game. Otherwise, hoping that English weather does the trick. :)

Probably because of the public perception that he is the most boring of the Australian batsmen, which is true. Also the fact that he is the most junior of all players in the test team in terms of cemented places.

FWIW he made his test debut against Eng in Eng and made 15 IIRC in his first dig and got out the exact same way as he did a few days ago, leaving the ball and getting clean bowled.

The problem with bowling Flintoff and Harmison now is that they won't be fresh when the new ball is available (in eight overs). Which means that they'll either: a) delay the new ball; or b) open with someone else. Both moves are likely to benefit Australia. They could of course be all out before the 80th over though.

Both fairly innocuous first overs.
Well, Flintoff is getting dangerous seam movement and at least looks like getting a wicket.

What is with Flintoff's no balls? Honestly, it drives me up the wall. There's no excuse for it at all for a bowler with his run up. He's bowled dozens of them this series, more than Lee or anyone else.
