As soon as the big, intimidating England fast bowlers hit a pad and the home crowd roars, they will cave in and give in to the force of Flintoffs big personality.

How disproven you were so quickly, but I expect you'll disregard that as it means you can't moan.

I certainly wouldn't rule Australia out of this yet. Several Australians are due runs, and 444 isn't really a mammoth total on this pitch, it's above par but gettable if Australia bat well. It depends a great deal on how well Australia's top 4 apply themselves, especially with Clarke missing.

Clarke can bat at 7 if fit, but as he's not even at the ground it seems unlikely.
I thnk I just heard he was getting some bedrest (!!!), so doesn't sound likely he'll bat today, if needed....

I agree, we're not out of this yet. Had England gone much over 500, I think we probably would have been, at least in terms of winning the match. Our batsmen are going to need to show far more discipline than they have so far though. In their favor, most of them seem to be striking the ball pretty well, the problems have been more related to a slight lack of respect for the English bowlers and forgetting at times the difference between one-dayers and test matches. 380 or above and we're still some kind of a chance.

Bedwesty for CLarkey boy. Needs his nap. Hope he`s alright.

Decent start for Australia, keep going! :D

To be honest so could I.

I wouldn't have had a problem with giving it if both teams were given the same treatment.
And they are - both sides are having shouts turned down that later look to be out.

I'm not disproven on the basis of the first one we see.

It will happen soon, because the umpire's will try to even it up whereas they relish in giving Warne's plumb LBW's continuously not out due to personal grievences and jealousy.

Fingers crossed for Hayden here. He's starting to look a little better, and has got his defensive shot right. Seems willing to grind it out a bit, so maybe he'll make a score.

I find it amusing that all this is being said about Bowden, who has been in the past accused of being bias towards Australians.

There we go. A good pull shot from Hayden. Things looking up, like they did in the second innings at Lords. Now, will he throw it away?

Stupid batting so close to lunch - just when Flintoff appears to have got himself sorted out and batting well he does that.
I was just remarking to my friend (a big English supporter) that Ponting was playing into England's hands by having defensive fields for both batters. I was especially puzzled by the deep cover, I think with all of Warnie's experience, he could have relied on him to NOT bowl too many long hops. But, he had a score of 70+ for the taking there, did Freddie and it was stupid of him to have thrown it away. But then again, had he connected properly and it had gone for 6, I wonder how many of us would have said the same thing. :)

Great catch by Bell there. Langer's looked uncomfortable against Giles throughout this series for whatever reason, while none of the other batsmen have at all. He's not the best player of spin going around of course, and probably the poorest in the Australian team, but he usually handles it a bit better than that, and has scored a century against Murali in Sri Lanka and so on.
