The rain has stopped, so hopefully we can all stop slinging mud now. 8-)

McGrath on the spot straightaway.

This is reminding me a lot of what the Aussies did to Robert Croft. A bowler who batted a little - destroy his confidence with the bat, and then get on top of him with the ball as well to compound the problems mentally. Especially when you have a number 8, who derives confidence from batting well, because their batsmanship is an important part of the team, to make sure that the tail wags. Lose a little bit of confidence in one part of your game, and it can be very contagious in regards to another part...

Worked very well last time, and seems as though 8 years makes not much difference.

Err how is that different to what any other team in the world would try to do? Don't try and make out it's some clever plan, the only difference is some teams are good enough to get it to work effectively.

It's a plan of attack on both elements of his game? Ie, Australians are specifically targetting Giles to remove him as a threat in the series, by aggressively exploiting his weakness against the short ball and trying to destroy his confidence with the bat, and attacking him when he is bowling and seeking to score at every opportunity. And no, teams with a less aggressive mentality would not seek to destroy the confidence of a player they see as somewhat weak in that sort of fashion. They would play out Giles with the ball as other teams have and allow him to be economical rather than risk losing wickets, for one.

The expression 'like a rabbit trapped in car headlights' applies to Ashley Giles. McGrath really got him with the ball before.

I definately wouldn't drop S.JonesQUOTE]

for god's sake why????
What's Simon Jones done wrong (other than the fact that he must have slept with AMZ's lady zebra)? I honestly can see a thousand reasons why Geraint might be playing county cricket next week, but Simon bowled his guts out.
