Kasprowicz and Gillespie will be fighting it out for the third seamer spot for the rest of the year from here.
well you could also throw Tait into that chase for the 3rd seamer spot, but with reference to the wrest of the series, based on how England have played Warne today, MacGill showed be seriously considered in my view.

Mr.Giles will have to watch his place has well, with the way the aussies have played him the selectors should definately start thinking about playing 6 batsmen.
And you said my following side had a weird combination:
Trescothick
Strauss
Vaughan
Bell
Thorpe
Pietersen
Flintoff
Read
Giles
Hoggard
Harmison

Wouldn't you like this side to take the field in the 2nd Test with S Jones replacing Giles now.

Y'know, I think Koertzen's WORST DECISION EVER is going to have an effect on this match. I see Pietersen getting a hundred, at least. I fervently hope not, but I think he will.

i see what your saying TEC, but do feel MaCgill will get a chance to play in this series.
I dont, macgill's fitness levels are crap and warne is obviously enough. Clarke could double as the spinner as can katich.

mate Thorpe has retired so he wont be playing 8-) , Read definately wont be replacing Geraint and if England are going to play 6 batsmen Giles would be dropped & Simon would play for sure.

no tec was talking about the accuracy factor than MacGill wont be has accurate and has economical has Warne which i true, but all i'm saying is that MacGill could get a test match nothing else.

Well someone should replace Geraint he can't keep, also you could have Collingwood in for the retired Thorpe. But you can see that my combination that i put up a couple months has merit.

Hindsight is 20/20, I know, but...

If Jones continues to keep as such, and doesn't set the world alight with the bat - would the Englishmen here prefer to see Read in the side, especially if they end up playing 6 batsman + Flintoff?

he dropped one, but it didn't cause england too much, plus he has taken pretty much everything this season, plus he is a better bat that read, but i doubt whether the selectors are even thinking about dropping Geraint.

When u put up that team a couple a months ago i had good reason to disagree but now i just cant...

The problem i can see in playing six batsmen is the quailty of the extra batsmen. With Thorpe retired is Collingwood or Key good enough option to consider dropping with Giles, Hoggard or even Simon Jones.

He has dropped two this game and 9 in 16 Tests, even Patel isn't that bad.

He's improved though. He was genuinely shocking in SA, and this is his first bad day since... he was generally quite good in the NWS.

edit: also, Australian players rarely talk about the series results, beyond saying they are confident. They don't come out with things like "england are too young, they've got no experience and they're not going to be able to handle the pressure and will lose". They just say it's going to be a good series and most of what I've heard from the players coming into this series has been about how Flintoff is a great player and Harmison is dangerous etc. It's the ex-players that come out with the smack talk.
you mean like how mcgrath said that they would win 3-0 and 2 games would be rained off?
after all the rubbish that australia said before the ashes series, i find it hard to believe that anyone can try and make england look bad here.
