"The first time I saw Brett Lee he seemed to be someone that I would put down lunch, breakfast, dinner to watch."
One has gotta admit Pattinson was just the shell of a bowler we saw during the Aussie summer but maybe injury lay-off and rust had something to do with that, but then English commentators (guess its pretty safe to call Holding that) have never missed an opportunity to bag an Australian player so this was no different.

Aussie comms have hardly been backward in coming forward in slagging off an Englishman either so it works both ways.

Understatement imo and I bet if you told Holding he was as good as English he wouldn't be very impressed at all, he works for SKY no more no less.

On the Holding quotes, he certainly did say he wouldn't put his cornflakes down to watch him (Pattinson).

Was very pleased to see Bopara play another fine innings last night and finally he got to see the game through to its conclusion. Another pretty professional performance from England and fair to say the 4-0 scoreline doesn't flatter us.

Yeah on Pattinson he definitely didn't look the same bowler as in the Aussie summer. Whether that's because he's better with the red ball atm or just rusty after a layoff remains to be seen. What is for sure is that anyone judging his long term potential on those two games is kidding themselves.

I was watching it at the time and Holding was commentating with Nick Knight on Sky

The latter said that Pattinson was a very promising bowler and asked Mikey for his thoughts.

He said words to the effect of "I like bowlers who make it look easy. First time I saw Brett Lee ..... Wouldnt interrupt breakfast to watch Pattinson ....."

Came across as incredibly ignorant because Lee went from destroying the might of NZ to being a javelin chucker (incredibly quick, fall away rubbish bowler) within 12 months

Expert comments NOT

It was actually quite embarrasing

Fielding excepted, obvz. Clearly looking to preserve their amateur status ahead of the Olympics there.

Pattinson's a top prospect IMO. He was a little down on pace and I reckon he's not quite match fit - needs some regular Shield bowling. Big potential.

There's every chance he's still inconvenienced by his injury, but his career figures suggest he's not much of a limited overs bowler anyway.

Certainly looked a pale imitation of the boy who hurried the Indians up in the Boxing Day test.

Seems Holding can't watch cricket and eat Cornflakes at the same time.

Yet he always seemed so coordinated when he bowled.

...then again, maybe his TV is in another room, and he isn't allowed milk on the carpet area.
