Hmm, some major overreaction in this thread.
Some of the bowling has been poor, particularly in the first session and Warne's second spell, but mostly it's been some sublime batting, particularly from Nafees who is a huge talent, and one of the flattest pitches you will ever see. In fact, I'd say outright this IS the flattest pitch I have ever seen Australia play a test on. Not only is there absolutely zero sideways movement, there's no bounce, there's hardly any turn even for the leggies and it's easy paced. The biggest threat you'd find on it is the occasional one keeping a bit low.
Having said that, Bangladesh of two years ago wouldn't have been able to take advantage of such conditions, regardless of who was bowling. It's been a wonderful batting effort from Nafees, and he's definitely confirmed what a lot of us thought after the 2005 NWS - that he's a class above any other batsman Bangladesh have produced.
As far as the bowling goes, Gillespie has been very good and very consistent. He's also shown his experience by knowing how to bowl on a dead subcontinent pitch, simply keeping it straight on off-stump and trying to induce an error. Lee was very good in his opening spell but had trouble with a pitch that has so little bounce. Clark and Warne have been up and down, but more poor than good. Warne's bowled the odd lovely ball, but there's been too much loose stuff and not enough consistency. Captaincy has been sub-par I thought. Ponting didn't have many interesting ideas, didn't rotate the bowlers enough and came up with some daft field placings, including keeping a massively attacking field all the way to lunch, and then not giving Gillespie even a first slip after it.
It's fair to criticise the Australian bowlers a bit, but really they haven't been all that bad. Full credit should go to Nafees for taking stock of the wicket and the flat and unmotivated air about the Australian play. Conditions were perfectly suited for Bangladesh to attack, and they have done so very well. Should be an interesting final session.
