**Official** Australia in Bangladesh

MacGill sledges Ahmed after bowling a half-tracker, which is luckily pulled straight to a fielder. Lol, when you're doing that you know you're in trouble!

In all fairness Jono, it's pretty easy to come running in here and start flapping self-righteousness around willy-nilly.
You're right, all it takes is a hit of the quote button and a random smiley. What makes it worse is there are so many comments like this, during the Bang/Aus ODI, the SA chase of 434 and then this. And when people continue to deny Bangladeshi's improvement (Richard, Langeveldt) despite everything pointing otherwise, I will ram it home that they look like fools insulting this country all the time.

Particularly when they're getting smashed.

Who was that that suggested Australia open the batting with Warne and Lee? Seriously, does the phrase 'learn your lesson' ring a bell? Why underestimate Bangladesh again. They're playing well here, and could get over 400 if they play their cards right. I think insulting them further, considering what Ponting has already said and then went back on regarding their test status, would be a disgrace.
Umm, my post wasn't a criticism of Bangladesh. It was acknowleding the fact that Lee and Warne have carried the attack for three consecutive test series, and Lee bowled in the ODIs as well, so the selectors wanted to reduce their workload, which is one of the main reasons they picked five bowlers. If you look at how exhausted Lee and Warne were by the end of today, you can see why.

I've considered Bangladesh an improving side for a while now, and particularly rated Nafees (and said so in articles for CW, incidentally), so I wasn't trying to put them down.

So let me get this straight, Australia can't get Bangladeshi batsman out because the pitch is too flat.

Australian excuses 101

Australia can't get Bangladeshi batsmen out because....

1. The ball is too round
2. The ball is too red
3. The ball has seams
4. The Bangladeshi batsmen are wearing white
5. There's a 'D' in the day of the week
6. Shane Warne is off the pitch
7. Shane Warne is on the pitch
8. Shane Warne is on the pull
9. Jet lag
10. There's a gypsy's curse hanging over the ground.

It's not as though the runs score themselves though. And Bangladesh have more than 350 of them.
Yeah. Bangladesh have batted very well, almost unbelievably well in fact. Still, any test side should have scored a fair few on this pitch, it's a real shocker. As mentioned earlier it might turn in a few days when it breaks up a bit, but right now there's nothing in it for anyone.

Relax Faaip, I probably should have added a smiley. I was kidding.

Lee's been worked into the ground this summer, I understand your point.

mother ....., why did i have to see this, i always said i never wanted to see Bangladesh's second innings at Cardiff but now i see 87 overs of this which one is worst?

Dont want to say it but BANG played so well its like a dream, the pitch looks absolutely flat but they played like a professional outfit. For the bowlers Lee started well but was that great, Clark struggled on this flat deck, Gillespie was very impressive showed his experience on bowling on sub-continent tracks bowling pretty straight & getting 2 scalps, Warne had an odd day, while MacGill bowled some good one's.

Hopefully they dont get to 400, that would be much appreciated & on the bright side when its Australia's turn to bat BAN could suffer even more.

Well...what a fantastic day of cricket. I don't care how flat the pitch is, it's an absolutely brilliant performance for any team to put up 350 in a day against Australia, and the fact that it is Bangladesh is just amazing. One of the best days of cricket I've ever seen, just because it'll do so much for Bangladeshi cricket and how seriously they're taken around the world.

I just hope this is the beginning of a new era for the Bangladeshis...although it could be said that already happened with their win against Australia in the Natwest Series. Since then, they've been so much more competitive and even ran Sri Lanka close in the Test series. Great day for cricket today.

Indeed, only one thing would've made it better though.

If Ricky had won the toss and elected to field!

Hey did anyone watch the ODIs played here against Kenya or seen any domestic matches here. Just wondering if the pitch is always like this and if it turns match later in the matches.

Good day today, but when you call improvement not being beaten by an innings, then I don't share you're sense of elation I'm afraid.. What irked me is that they were promoted on the back of a farcical three/four day domestic competition and a dodgy world cup win a few years against Pakistan..

And they could easily still get beaten very badly here..
