But in all honesty the great West Indian team had guys like Marshall (who batted at 8 or 9) but who were good enough to make Double Hundreds against SL then (or had there been opportunity to play the likes of Bangla or Zim ), But I think those guys had a sense of (humility and ) wanting to preserve the dignity of their opposition and would sacrifice their wicket to preserve the dignity of their opponents.
This does not in any way attempt to belittle Gillespie's Double Ton.
But that was the dignified nature of the Great West Indian Team of Lloyd's , IMO.
To be fair to Clark, he looked a bit stiff and sore in the 1st Test match against Banga.reverseswing said:interesting interview with Clark on the news tonight where he said that he wanted to play this Test but only went home after he was told Gillespie would be playing
he could be a one series wonder
Let's first wait and see how Langer pulls up!LongHopCassidy said:Play Gillespie at 6!

As if you wouldn't take the opportunity. Would you really throw away your wicket in a Test match?howardj said:...someone sent in to survive the night, whereupon they bore the paying public to within an inch of their lives the following morning.
i hate night-watchmen. they take themselves too seriously the next day.
Hell no. I was half joking. But I would be a little more aggressive the following morning, and try to give the specialist batsman the strike at every available opportunity.burkey_1988 said:As if you wouldn't take the opportunity. Would you really throw away your wicket in a Test match?
Not if selecting only 4 bowlers it won't, especially with Warne and Lee inked into 2 of the spots.sqwerty said:I'm not sure if Dizzy's batting would come into the equation for selections.....might do though.
I think it would if it was a close thing. For example, if McGrath was to return to the team now, Gillespie would be retained ahead of Stuart Clark, and his batting would have a part in that. The value of a tail as good as Warne, Lee and Gillespie for Australia is significant, after all.marc71178 said:Not if selecting only 4 bowlers it won't, especially with Warne and Lee inked into 2 of the spots.
So darn inaccurate. Anyone else think of nigh****chmen top scoring that Cricinfo have missed?marc71178 said:They've already changed it once because I emailed my mate who works for them to point out that either Tudor should be on there or Gillespie not.
