True, Rajin and Tushar barely bowl on the domestic circuit. That's why I expected Alok to play today. You can say that they might as well play four spinners, but you need two seamers for the first fifteen (or twenty, or whatever) because the spinners will otherwise just get picked off, and we haven't got enough spinners who can bat, like India have Yuvraj, Sachin, Sehwag.Prince EWS said:

Alok was originally set to play but pulled out injured. Tushar took his place.
And I understand the picking quicks to bowl in the first fifteen overs is the norm (even on slow, turning wickets), but it was 3-109 after 15 overs, with Razzak having two of the wickets. You can't tell me that the likes of Manjural and Enamul couldnt have down worse than conceding upwards of 8 runs per over in the first ten overs. The Bangladesh quicks just dont offer anything on flat, turning wickets - they'll get carted by the Australians. Razzaq basically bowled with the new ball - he bowled the 9th over of the innings and he took the big wicket in the 11th... why not make it a regular occurance on these wickets?
As for batsmen that can bowl spin, I'd be happy to say that Rajin is at least the equal of Yuvraj and Sehwag when it comes to bowl, regardless of how little he bowls in domestic cricket. Tushar's a shocker though.

can't wait for cosgrove to get a hit. he has enormous (no pun intended) potential and will definitely be a permanent fixture in the one day side in about five years...he's probably still a few kilos over what he should be so losing some more weight may bring him some more fitness and maybe he'll be able to convert that into runs.

Yeah I do hope he gets a run this series (which he should definetely do, given there's two more games). He does seem to be a huge potential, but as you said his weight is an issue. For an elite cricketer, there really is no excuse for being overweight, and I do hope he gets and stays in decent shape, because from what I've seen of him he could be a pivotal player in years to come.sideshowtim said:

he has huge wraps from everyone who has seen him play. lehmann (although i must say he is a tad bias towards SA) has said he is the most talented young batsman in the country at the moment. speaking of talented batsmen we also have travis birt (scored 99 on county debut), cameron borgas, callum ferguson, george bailey, dominic thornley...and none have played an international match. we have a fair bit to look forward too.andyc said:

he was very, very consistent at the start of the domestic season...he averaged something like 300 in the ING cup due to being not out so much because he'd win the game off his own bat. does he have a county contract yet?
