England have probably put out 50 worse. AB and Amla alone makes it better, Rossouw can hold a bat at least as well. Forgot De Kock as well. This is a decent batting line up, just one specialist short.

I wouldn't want to bowl to Behardian when he is in this sort of form, he looks unstoppable..:notworthy

Has there ever been a batting line-up this atrocious in ODI cricket among the top teams?
If you consider Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka top teams then yes.

I mean if you look at the individual players then they have 2 of the best in Amla and de Villiers, along with de Kock who kills it on his day. It's really not that bad but they're the opposite of the NZ meme team in the sum of the parts sense.

Yeah they got a world cup semi final last year where they were very close to the final and then beat NZ and a resurgent England side at home.

I suspect all is not well behind the scenes, a coach that is dead man walking and batting pitches out of their comfort zone make them look worse then they are.

Proteas are literally into the tail after they are 5 down.

Maybe its also coz we got so used to watching them bat way down to 9 that the current batting line up looks even more worse than it is.

It is comforting that after all these years Matthew Wade is still utterly abject as a keeper. In a fast changing world, one constant.

As an aside, why in God's name are Pakistan playing the boxing day test this summer and not SA?

Pakistan are actually ranked higher in the test rankings than South Africa.

I dunno, I assume Saffers people in charge want to try and make them hosting cricket on boxing day an iconic day in their calender?

At least Pakistan won't be as bad as West Indies last year:)

Because SA had for many years a boxing day test as well. Neither would budge on who would keep their boxing day test so Aus and SA don't play over Christmas/ New years we play Oct/Nov and Late Jan/Feb instead..

I think Smith has missed a trick here. 9 overs left after this one. Coulter-Nile is bowled out, Haze has only 2. That means spinners will have to bowl a lot (unless MMarsh bowls 5 more or something). If Behardien is at the crease till the end, he'll be desparate to attack the spinners.

Ok, fair enough if they play at home then. From a selfish point of view, it's a shame for me - I'm home and was really excited to see Rabada et al. over Xmas. I'm already seeing bl***** Pakistan twice at Lords this (English) summer!

Reckon SA should look to put bat to ball and gamble a bit. 175-9 isn't winning them anything, try to get 200+.

SA have been top-heavy for ages tbh. It's why they were never that likely to win the WC.

Oh gosh, I will always love you Marto but you are a terrible commentator. How do you still get gigs?

Warne aside (obviously) reckon Martyn might be the biggest gap between player and commentator in terms of quality.
