***Official*** Australia A and New Zealand A in India

Superb knock by Badrinath. He seems to play only with a straight bat. I cant recall a single square cut or pull in last few games. If it is short and wide on the off side he hits it with a straight bat between point and cover areas.

I disagree.

He got picked on the back of very good performances in the Emerging Players Tournament and U19 World Cup.

Other than Franklin, he is probably the only left arm seamer in New Zealand with any chance of playing for New Zealand in the next few years..he also swings it and from what I hear has the potential to bowl 140k's+. Not too many talents like that in NZ...why shouldnt A tours be used to blood a few youngsters?
Using A tours to give young talented players is one thing, but we have absolutely no clue how good Boult is at this stage, because he hasn't had any proper cricket. The standard of the Emerging Players comp and U19 WC was way below even first class level, one simply can't read too much into performances at those events. Most likely he'll find the level of competition way too difficult. Besides, its not like we're running out of time with this guy, he's only just 19! Give him a season of FC cricket and see how he goes. If he sets the house on fire like Southee did last year, then by all means give him a shot on an A tour, there are usually 1 or 2 every year (one coming up against England A next Feb).

Today I saw the match between India A vs NZ A in Uppal Stadium, Hyderabad (My Home Town). This is my first match watching in this stadium. It was real excitement for me. I took autographs from Mark Gillespie, Peter Fulton & Aaron Redmond.

I had a close look at Jeetan Patel, Hay, James Marshall, Scott, Peter Fulton, Irfan Pathan, Asnodhkar, Praveen Kumar & Yousuf pathan.I had a small conversation with Redmond & Yousuf.

Hey, I forgot to tell about Mason. He was excellently entertaining the crowd. He is damn cool guy..

Fantstic Bowling by Indian Pacers.. NZ also bowled well.. Gillespie in particular

Again, I disagree.

The Emerging Players Tournament was completely full of quality FC players and even some international players (Raina, Kohli, Tiwary, Gony, Tshabalala) and Boult did very well.

After that tournament the NZ Emerging Players played some matches against Queensland and Boult again bowled well.

He will play the whole of next season for ND, Shield and Championship matches, I think it is a good learning experience for him to be involved with established FC players already, and hopefully get to bowl to the next in line for Aus/Indian international spots. He will be a better bowler for it.

Who do you suggest was good enough to take his spot on tour anyway?

I think everyone has to develop at their own pace, if the coaches don't think Boult's ready then he isn't. They have the best judgement and that's that.

AWTA. The tournament was of a very high standard and if anything the NZ team were lucky to win and only did because they had a few players in very good form.

Yeah, I personally reckon he showed us enough at the under-19 WC, no matter who the opposition were(they certainly weren't complete ****). Good action & pace and was pretty accurate, no doubt looked ready for first-class cricket at the very least, was little wonder why ND gave him a contract soon after

Agreed. And the coach/selectors obviously think Boult is ready for NZ A duty, and fair enough.

Action tomorrow- India A against New Zealand A.

Badrinath may not get a game after Tuesday, as he's announced as Tendulkar's replacement in the Irani Trophy. The Indians can continue with the team that played the last match. The Chennai pitch is apparently full of runs, though initial trends indicated it would be full of seam-aid.

NZ leading the comp on net run-rate, fingers crossed that Boult & Hay play8-) Would love to see this side take the field, though Broom/Marshall isn't the ideal 6th bowling option. I cannot remmeber Fulton having a trundle for ages he used to be quite handy...

1.Watling+
2.Guptill
3.Fulton
4.Marshall
5.Broom
6.Hay
7.Elliott
8.N.McCullum
9.Gillespie
10.Patel
11.Boult

Cricinfo is so completely useless.

There was complete full live coverage of the first round of the games, and absolutely no coverage at all of the game today.

Does anyone know where there is a live scorecard..or atleast updates?

Oh by the way, Bryce - Boult wont play, he is only in the squad for the FC matches. I thought it was the other way around, but he replaces Gillespie when the FC matches start.

The worst thing is that I knew that him(along with O'Brien) were only playing the "Tests":wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

A quick google search revealed this, but not entirely sure aye

Yeah, I knew that too..but for some reason I got mixed up and thought Boult was playing in the One dayers, and not the FC games.

Yeah, that's the only thing i've been able to find also...and as of yet there are absolutely no updates on that site. Wasn't the game supposed to have started 20 mins ago?

Well I think its safe to say we wont be getting any live updates.

Cricinfo are really slack..how can they cover half of this tournament, then just completely forget about it?

This is NOT being shown on television here, or even getting a live scorecard- here's a scorecard at innings break, after New Zealand won the toss and fielded first. I won't even comment on it because of this media block.
