Giles looking the part Give over mate He crap
He was bowling well towards the end of the summer, and was the pick in the First Ashes Test - so looks to me like he was beginning to settle in.

And the best spinner we have by a long way.

He only has a poor Test average because he is used as a defensive tool rather than to attack. He's far from crap

Whether or not we don't have many bowlers who can bat, that's no reason to only pick five batsmen.

If I read one more pathetic, jingoistic comment regarding India and their being better/worse than England, I delete it.

Got that clear?

That includes Rik before anyone accuses me of double standards.

There is a thread that was created if you want pathetic delusion-inspired flaming. Go find.

That'll be because with each match we lose more and more players through injury - now White's gone as well.

And yet again I state we are not as bad you lot make out, it's just our turn to face Australia and it has coincided with a terrible run of injuries (surely it's gone past the NZ run now)

At the same time, remind us again when India last won a series outside Asia, I believe some of the forum weren't even born!
The only thing i should remind you is this thread is NOT about India, kindly stick to the topic, India may not have done better overseas but it has nothing to do with current poor state of affair of England's cricket team!

Now its the turn of White to get injured. Now who's going to pick wickets for them in fifth test :O

Well its a pretty bad situation, i guess by now England must be running out of options.I wonder if Beefy can still turn his arm over and play for England? While some might find such suggestions ridiculous, i would like 2 point out that Lillee played his last international match against Pak at the age of 50!! He did pretty well in that match and took 3 wkts, even his son played along with him in that match (it was a side match in Pak's last tour to Aus).Bothom might not be that impressive, but he surely can't be as awful as the younger lot!!

England have set a target of 106 for Austrlia to win the match! Vaughan played a brilliant knock of 145 and Key also played a fine knock.Overall England batsmen have done well in the match, its their bowlers that suxs and have led the team down.I don't suppose England can win from here, getting Aussies out for less than 105 must be nearly impossible.

But White is batting right now so how are you guys saying that he's out with an injury???
The injury will inhibit White's bowling, not really his batting.

To quote White, bolwing would be like "batting with a broken hand".

Why must every comment end with an insult of the English team?
Because they must. They have been doing so since the NatWest Series and they amuse themselves doing so.

I dedicate my 2000th post to Michael Vaughan, and one of the best innings I've seen by an Englishman (I said one of the... Gooch and Atherton stand above still, mind) :D

I hardly think it's fair saying that the bowlers have let the side down. White bowled his pants off, as did Dawson and Harmison - it's just it was a day one pitch under bright sunlight against Australia, and I challenge any side to make inroads like that.

I did intentionally miss out Caddick. Drop him before he bowls one so short it bounces twice before it reaches the batsman...

Because people have played with much worse injuries than a side strain to try and help their team.

Well, why don't you and your cronies stop criticising England then? As I keep saying, the "current poor state of affair of England's cricket team" is a MYTH.

There are a lot of nations performing a lot worse than England at the moment.

I've just watched the highlights that I videoed and this is what I've seen:

McGill has a long and quite fast run up...but an action which very slingy and doesn't lend it's self to accuracy, he bowled quite porely really, far far far too many full tosses and looked barely village standard in parts, but came back well. No patch on Warne in my opinion, and you can see why he's not done too well for NSW this season...which other bowler in the world serves up a huge full toss 1st ball to let the batsmen get easy runs, and get their eye in?

Also I noticed that Lee was back to his old ways, bowling like he did when he was in England, back to 2 Lengths: Full or Short, and he got punished for it, I think Bichel would be more deserving of a place at the moment although they have both been quite wild, though Lee's series econ rate is over 4 an over :O

Also I noticed that despite the evedent problems with the bowling, Vaughan played a superb knock. Love has played his way for a permenent place I feel, unbeaten 60 odd and 4 Catches, welcome the new Mark Waugh , well they've been comparing Love to Junior Waugh on the radio a lot, and he's looking a very good slip fielder. How Lehmann must be cursing his luck!

Also just a little note, if Caddick and Harmison managed to hit a bowler of Gillespie's class so cleanly, then why not try coaching them a bit more and you never know, you might get a better batsman out of either of them, just look at Hoggard! Runs matter in this game, why not try and get a few more?

WRONG!

Lillee's last International game was at the age of 34.

That "game" you refer to was a meaningless warm up game which is never taken entirely seriously (a bit like the game Sri Lanka just played where Jayawardene and Kaluwitherana took the lact 5 wickets between them without conceding a run.

We did get them out, but the umpires never gave them!

Maybe Batty would have been a better bet:lol:  , the fatty batty is atleast handy with the bat, so what if he can't get spin much from the ball, none of the English spinner can get it!!
What on earth? "Fatty" Batty? What on earth made you say that?

England in White has an allrounder that Aussies can only dream of!
Acutally, despite his rather wild sounding claim, he's actually not far off. The one thing Australia doesn't have is a decent all-rounder who can do a job with both bat and ball. True, Steve Waugh averages twice as many with the bat as White and has more Wickets at a lower average...but he's a backup bowler at best and has played 155 Matches to White's 30...

Even if there really are LOTS of nation performing poorly than England than we have different thread for them. This thread is about Ashes, and whether you like it or not India or any other team have nothing to do with it!

A few reasons, first English team had been performing poorly (though Vaughan led a fantastic fighback for which England team deserve some praise) Secondarily, some immature individuals have been insulting Indian team and Cricketers since some time, unfortunately these same indivisual can't turn blue when one get after their team:!( .
