Yes, Raman Lamba died in Bangladesh after the ball struck him on the head when he was fielding at short leg without a helmet. He was playing in the leagues there.

But apparently that protection is not enough, so they are provided with further protection in the form of one bouncer per over or bpouncers no balled, type of rules.
This also stops games being boring. Otherwise everyone would say "Australia are too good, lets give them 5 bouncers an over and see how they like it!!"

Quite a silly thing to say really, were WI getting bounced incessantly (sp?) just because they were winning?

No, because they had the best and fastest bowlers in the world by far. Nobody would have had the guts to do it for fear of getting twice as bad treatment in return. They also didn't have the best batting lineup in the world, at least not by as much.

Now, NSW also has beaten England. Michael Slater might be back in reckoning for a WC spot with this innings, do you think? Steve came in and slogged at the end to get a message across to the selectors, but his case still looks highly doubtful to me. Unfortunately, all the Aussies are making merry at the expense of England.

Nah, I think Slater's international career's done - he wasn't even picked initially for this game untile Mark was injured. Steve's 19 off his last 4 balls was a little on the :O side for me..

Well.. positives.. Irani, Blackwell, Shah, Harmison. Add this to Key, Dawson and Jones in the tests and I'm seeing a pattern here.

Well just read that Aravinda de Silva will miss the first half of Sri Lanka's tour of Australia after requesting leave for personal reasons.... England have lost many through injury, SL have now lost De Silva... So who's going to be nice and drop out of the Aussie sqaud to even things up???

No because they were both out of form anyway, England would have rather seen them in the team rather than having a inform player come in.

It's not just an excuse, it's a horrid reality. :( seriously, if any more players get injured then we might as well pull out as we've lost the Ashes and we would be better off actually having some fit players for the WC and beyond...

I agree, theres always enough players back at home to make a squad up.. even if it's not your 1st choice one.

But I agree there, with such luck, pulling out is a passing thought ! though it is not an option. This is the best excuse England can get to put in some raw ypung talent in there. The ashes is already lost, why not let a few young guys take the field BUT the instruction must be to play aggressive cricket. Otherwise it would be demoralising
