Imagine calling Indian batsmen pampered twenty years ago because they could actually play on Australian pitches, the horror of it. It's give and take. At least we're still scraping through at home while doing well abroad.

Whatever it takes!!!
I agree he is not quite a specialist batsman at the test level, @Groundking , but if Bairstow were to be dropped, who can play instead of him? You don't want Burns or another left hander with Ashwin out there but Lawrence did not look very convincing either. I suppose you could just back Burns as he has at least shown he can do it in English conditions.

I'd back Burns, yes Ashwin is a problem but I think the selectors should show some faith with him as I doubt he'll do worse than Bairstow does even if he doesn't do any good. How will Burns get better at playing spin/Ashwin if he doesn't get the chance? Bairstow has had his chances.

I could be wrong but I expect they'll play Bairstow again. If he fails again I think that might finally be his last chance spent. Even if he doesn't fail I'd rather see Burns back ahead of him for the home season.

I don't foresee lots of changes - not like there're any promising batsmen left in the squad we could give a go to. Might just be Bess for Broad, assuming Bess's confidence isn't shot.

Although big civic projects being named after pollies currently in power is a sign of substantial dysfunction IMO, a comment or two here say more about the people making them than anything else.

UAE Space Agency is named after Ruler of Dubai himself and just put a space craft around Mars in their first attempt.

Why is there a Narendra Modis Stadium? Tell me its no just vanity
Because unfortunately in India unlike Western countries, Airports, stadiums, monuments are named after famous politician . Even India's highest sporting award is named after a politician.

Although Gujarat cricket association has gone 1 step ahead and named it after an active politician which gives a very bad vibe and is simply extreme sycophancy.

Its very silly they did it just before the game but honestly, naming big stuff on themselves is 101 of Indian politicians, literally every single one of them. Especially in my state of Tamilnadu. Its absolute par for course and has been, throughout my lifetime.

I just find it astounding that anyone signed off on this idea thinking it will do any good.
