I don't like batting first on a pitch this green, especially after being bowled out for 195 doing the same last time here against India. Cummins elected to bowl on a much flatter wicket against SA. But it is going to be very hot which would tilt the choice towards batting.

It'll be interesting to see how the pitch wears, Melbourne often gets more inconsistent, but when there's this much grass it can also get flatter like many English pitches.
The heat makes bowling first a complete non-starter IMO. If you don't get them 5/60 or better after the first session you could well be fried as the day goes on.
