**Official** 4th Test at Melbourne, 26-30 Dec 2024

is it fair to say we wont see Reddy bowl much in the future? better to concentrate him as a top 6 player, to replace the likes of Rohit, and Kohli when they retire. Washi, i assume, would continue to use his off spin, with Axar in the future times once Jadeja retires.

Its like Steve waugh and Saurav Ganguly. Both were military medium pacers like Reddy (120kph), classed as all rounders when military medium was thing in the 90s(guys like Gavin Larsen, Chris harris come to mind) and batters early in their career, but later in their career you didnt see them bowl much and they are concentrating on their batting, Waugh averaging over 50 and Ganguly around low 40s.

Military medium isnt really an all rounder IMHO in this day and age, need to bowl proper pace and bat to be classed as one, otherwise u are really a batter that bowls part time.
Disagree, military medium pacers definitely have a place in test cricket ..The problem with the current day exponents of the art is that they aren't fit enough or aren't trusted to bowl long spells for some reason..Think Mathews, Marsh , Mitchell they barely bowl long spells ..But when guys like Mayers, De Grondhomme, Mohammad Abbas were trusted at their pace they make significant contributions..

Nitesh Reddy looks a reluctant bowler , no matter what you bowl if you aren't prepared to put in work you will never be a reliable option.
If it doesn't bother you that you only bowl 2-5 overs an innings or none at all then you will remain a bang average option.

The Aussie media should be careful with how they handle Konstas. Of course they won't be careful, as it's all about click-bait. But elevating this guy to superstar status too soon is risking a very hard fall.

Not sure its fair to say " he hasn't put in the work" tbh. He's put more value on his wicket than a lot of the "senior" batsmen , he just needs to bowl overs in any format he can, but obviously he is still quite raw so he does need to get matches to bowl and captains who trust him.

Looking at the match now, I don't have a clue what's actually going to happen, but this seems like just the kind of situation where we snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I don't know how the pitch is going to behave because our bowlers always seem to get less out of it than India's, India have several batsmen that could do a lot of damage if they get going, and the bowing looked rather tired in the first innings with Starc bad and Lyon rather blunt. But biggest of all is that this team seems to struggle when put in a pressure situation.

everywhere I go it's just pure pessimism, where's the signature aussie confidence??? India isn't confident either.

That’s why I’m so I’m pleased with the application from the tail tbh

Well earned.

So 340 needed off 92 overs, so around 3.7 runs per over. Chasable, but very tough. Even harder than Brisbane.
