Its amazing how bad cricket highlights are, though. For a sport that is often played during business hours, or overnight, it should be a vital way of broadcasting the sport.

Best packages I've seen was back when CH4 had English rights, used to include Mark Nicholas voiceovers of the momentum shifting micro-highlights etc (eg. Maybe a sequence of play and misses, or an explanation if the run rate dryng up etc) to get the narrative of the day across.
Yeah, so they used to be a lot better...which suggests now that it's cost cutting.

The worst is when there's a dismissal which is reviewed (run out or lbw) and it doesn't show the review. **** it pisses me off. I watched 25 minutes of highlights yesterday and didn't know Stokes had been bowled off a noball, didn't know CdG was injured, and got a whole bunch of waste of time singles over near dismissals etc.

There’s something going here about Joe Root reaching 10,000 runs today and being exactly the same age as Cook. If it happens they’ll have to find out the time of birth and time of day reaching the milestone to see who is younger.

I know Potts batting was poor in the first innings but what is his ability like?
Do England have 4 number 11s or can anyone dig in if a wicket goes early? Leach would have been useful in that situation
He's never a test match 8, but got some ability seen him hit an 80 odd.

He'd bat 10 at Durham if everyone was fit with Carse and Raine as 8/9.

And he'll reach that milestone......if he gets to 100.
I saw the 100 and 10000 runs thing - here we are getting screwed by numerology and narrative. Queen's jubilee victory over the colonies!

It's looked a bit flat the first couple of balls. There's nothing in the air or off the deck.

Everything from the absolute middle of the ball so far, good thing is Southee looking to make them play every ball.

That's such a good angle from Boult. Forced to play at almost every ball but the length from Southee and Boult a bit back today. Perhaps looking for some variable bounce.

Root is going to torment our boys in this series. He's playing the ball so late. Looks to be in great touch.
