lol we got rekt

we have no young batswomen. Our world class core from a few years back of Bates, Devine, Sattherwaite and the rising Kerr is slowly falling to bits. Kerr is better than her average now but outside her who is gonna step up? Women's players seem to accelerate through the ranks from nowhere unlike the mens, but I don't see anyone young kicking arse and taking names in our domestic comp.

Which is frustrating because I think some of our young bowlers look alright.

Anyway I was watching the kiwi seamers A-Z video last night and showing the boys some Fen Cresswell and Harry Cave and the good news for the womens game is this NZ womens side would wreck those lads. Some old cricket lover will probably come in and pretend those guys bowled 120. It's okay, I have the footage on hand. Ajaz Patel is faster. I could play for NZ back then (badly).

So the dawn of womens pro cricket being far superior to the lower end of mens dawn of pro cricket is good news for the game I guess.

So now I'm assuming the NZ-England game will decide who gets to lose to Australia in the semi-final. We'll need to improve a lot from this, but hopefully we can do that and pull off a bit of an upset over the hosts in a few days' time.
Well, that didn't go the way I'd hoped. :( Incredibly disappointing performance.

As I've said before, NZ need batters outside of the top 3. However, I did think they'd do better than this.

Great start by Smriti

Big moment that. A 5 ball duck from Harmanpreet here would have been disaster. She needs to catch up now tho.

Keeper standing up to Issy Wong? I thought she was supposed to be the quickest bowler in the world. No speed gun so can't tell if she's down on pace or if Amy Jones is just that good a keeper

Great catch that by Bouchier

There's a Kemp playing for England too. The women importing from South Africa as well it seems

Exciting start to the chase - 42 runs and a wicket in the first four overs. This could be a thriller.

Meanwhile, I'll loyally record the other semi and watch it tomorrow. Can't help being hopeful that NZ will produce a big performance and at least make Australia work for the win, as unlikely as that seems after the England debacle.

some really tight runouts in this game ey

India seem to be feeling the pressure. England are such a powerful batting unit. Needed Renuka and Meghna to start will with the new ball.

I don't think I've ever seen Shafali Verma bowl before. (But I see she got a wicket against Pakistan in this tournament).

Ooh, but then only three runs from the 17th!

EDIT: And now another run out!

If England fall short here, Sciver might have to take some of the blame. Poor innings by her standards, IMO.
