State Regular
Kangaroos squad:

Karmichael Hunt (Broncos), Brent Tate (Broncos), Jamie Lyon (Sea Eagles), Justin Hodges (Broncos), Matt King (Storm), Darren Lockyer [c] (Broncos), Johnathan Thurston (Cowboys), Brent Kite (Sea Eagles), Cameron Smith (Melbourne Storm), Petero Civoniceva (Broncos), Willie Mason (Bulldogs), Nathan Hindmarsh (Eels), Andrew Ryan (Bulldogs); Interchange - Luke Bailey (Titans), Shaun Berrigan (Broncos), Steve Simpson (Knights), Anthony Tupou (Roosters).

I would have thought Reni Maitua or Ryan Hoffman for Tupou, O'Meley for Kite, with Bailey in starting at least, Inglis in the centers, for Lyon . Brent Tate out for Nathan Merritt

Yeah fair point, Inglis/Lyon >>>> Tate/Inglis. Actually, substitute anyone bar Tate in their and it's an automatically better combination :p

lol from a kiwi perspective it is a good selection. There are so many more dangerous players that they could have picked. Slater, Merritt, Bowen etc.

anyway kiwi squad has been named. Apparently the ARL are blocking Brent Webb from playing for the kiwis again as he is no longer a NZ resident. That's a bit of a shame. He always played his best football in the test match arena.

I imagine the side will line up like this

1. Krisnan Inu ( he has only played 1 first grade game lol )
2. Manu Vatuvei
3. Iosia Soliola
4. Paul Whatuira
5. Jake Webster
6. Benji Marshall
7. Ben Roberts
8. Nathan Cayless
9. Dene Halatau
10. Roy Asotasi
11. Simon Mannering
12. David Fa'alogo
13. Sonny Bill Williams

14. David Faiumu
15. Greg Eastwood
16. Tony Puletua
17. Frank Pritchard
Aside from the fullback and having two 5/8s in the halves, it isn't too bad from a side. I assume Greg Eastwood would be the utility player and who is captain btw?

6th min: TRY Sydney Roosters
The Roosters get the opening points on the back of a silly penalty by the Raiders. Anasta makes a great line break and throws a brilliant pass to put Kenny-Dowall over the line. The Raiders have already made twice as many tackles as the Roosters who look like they're here to play tonight. Conversion attempt by Craig Fitzgibbon successful.
Sydney Roosters 6-0

Could be a long night.

Im so over international Rugby League... For once i would love to see the Australian selectors pick a team on form rather then see the same old out of form people run around...

Once again i hope they get smashed...
why should they pick the team on frm exclusively, we'd have had 10 times more players play for Australia than have, the team they have picked is pretty much right, but it will never please everyone...

Purtell's defence there on Anasta to score was woeful, dont think hes an NRL standard centre...

If he improves his defence, his attack is average, but he's a young player and who knows what can happen in a couple of years.

could be another Raiders try, amazing play for Minichiello to deny Graham with the one on one strip, but Kelly seems to have gone over...

Canberra only have one NRL standard centre though, so it's not going to matter who they play there, they are going to be substandard. Howell is ridiculously bad - he's an ongoing joke between Canberra fans. Marshall Chalk has bad hands and never passes, Purtell is an average winger and a dire centre. Brad Cross and Brett Kelly are options but they aren't really NRL standard either.

ideally the Raiders would like Zillman in the centres with Bronx Goodwin at fullback, Zillman is just too small to play in the centres atm, Howell is woeful and is lucky to be even playing in Premier League.

One thing on Howell though, I saw him with Lincoln Withers in town last week and I couldnt believe how big he is, he'd be 100kg's easy, i can see why he'd be picked on his size and strength alone, pity he has nothing else...

20-12 now btw...
