I've seen Anderson and Broad bowl really well on heaps of pitches like this. English pitches when the sun is shining are often really slow, exactly like this. The Oval a lot of the time, Trent Bridge a few years back, Lord's a lot of the time etc etc
I've seen Josh Hazlewood bowl on a green nottingham pitch after a side just got bowled out for 60 and he got carted around a 4 an over.

A pitch so green and bowler friendly that one of the members of this forum probably could have donned the baggy green and picked up a few wickets. Yet Hazlewood got spanked around.

What can this mean?

Was he undercooked? Or just a bit shite that day?

Yeah I agree, also don’t think Aus got that level of choke from their pacers as consistently.
Yeah, I agree. Hazlewood in theory should be good at it but he bowled pretty badly, Starc is not suited to that at all, and Cummins is too inexperienced.

Plus, you really need 5 bowlers for that sort of thing to work. And you need a really good captain (Clarke was masterful at it).

I'm going to go on a limb and saying that bowling is more difficult when you have to defend a score of 60.

I've seen Hazlewood run through sides on absolute roads too, so swings and roundabouts.

Anderson might be injured but Broad really should come on now. Looks really comfortable out there.

Woakes's bowling here is a classic example of why joke warmups count for nothing. Looks really rusty.

A repeat of yesterday, where England have just inexplicably served up an hour of piss weak cricket at a time when they're threatening to take control of the match.
