Rijkaard is not a player.
I know that. But when Marc said no one coul refuse Chelsea's bi money, I assumed it was players because I have not known the football transfer system in details. But surely players have a say in where they want to go for ho wmuch money and can refuse a Chelsea boss for playing in Barcelona.

No person would refuse though, because of the huge increase in wages. That is the point.
So its not no manager and its no person. Neil figured it out wrong then. If no person could refuse, Ronaldinho is totally tongue in cheek for you. I do think he i genuine and have no reason not to believe him.

Of course people can refuse.Ryan Giggs has gotten better offers before to join other clubs but he hasn't.So why can't Ronaldinho do the same.

Wouldn't it be great if Andrew Johnson finished ahead of Thierry Henry on the goal charts. That might not save Crystal Palace though.

It would be great if anyone finished ahead of Henry, he'll have a lot of experience of finishing second best anyway but every little bit helps.

Newcastle still being held 0-0 against Yeading after 23 minutes...

Even though there was no offer on the table whatsoever and soon after that he got a new contract with wage increase?

Okay so you totally believe what Ronaldinho said about wanting to not play for Chelsea and being happy at Barca would get him a pay increase. He way merely putting to rest rumours as frankly as he could. And there is no reason to believe such a top class player would be dishonourable to make false claim in public.

You mean like when Ronaldinho spoke so fondly of Manure before he joined Barcelona?

And how did he put to rest rumours that didn't exist at the time?

Looks like Kevin Campbell has left Everton to join West Brom, and along with the very much useless Matias Almeyda signed on a free from Brescia.

Interesting signings considering their ages.

If you clearly state you wont go to a club, you put that rumour to rest. No simpler way of doing it.

There was no rumour in the first place though, that is the point.

The first person to mention it was Ronaldinho - so how is that putting anything to rest?!

In the journalistic reports, it was mentioned there was rumour about him moving to Chelsea. He put it to rest by stating he ws happy at Barca and no intention of moving there.

So people over here had heard no rumour at all, then he says something about a supposed rumour and quashing it (when it didn't happen)

A few weeks later a new contract and more money for him.

Simple use of the media (and Abramovic) to get more cash from Barcelona.

People here didnt here the rumours. But in media reports it does suggest there was a rumour among media circles from earlier on. The earlier link I gave also has one before the rumour and one after it was squashed.

Look probably every international player worth his salt has been 'linked' with Chelsea these days. If the papers don't have anything real to say they just make up some **** and bull story saying Abramovich/Mourinho is interested in so and so etc.

Where?

Like I said, over here, there weren't rumours, the first we heard was when he denied it all in order to get a nice wage rise.
