Just want to know what other people think of UEFA's new ruling about the qutoas of home grown players in their squads as just a ay to get around EU law?
I think it's a brilliant idea, so long as it is allowed to stand by EU law.

Is it only going to be for clubs only involved in the Champions League (IMO it should be a proper Champions League) and the UEFA Cup which could differ every season or for teams only in the top flight (In CM I have some starting line-ups with up to 7 people from that country and still able to win easy) which would make much more easier and sense?

Of topic, but I have been reading Brian Clough's autobiography (obviously done before he died), albiet a promotional copy that came with FourFourTwo magazine (the only reason why I brought it), and I must a brilliant a book. That he never managed England, played two times for England yet he got 267 goals in 294 matches for Middlesborough and Sunderland and got left out for the 50's and 60's version of Emile Heskey (from what I read the guy wasn't a bad player who was good for goal or two and a big guy but wasn't in Clough's class), never got knighted is a farce. According to the book Clough claimed had he and Pete Taylor not left Derby, they would have turned Derby into a really big club. I'm sure LE remembers.

That says more about the strength of some of the International sides they represent.
Not surprising about Fletcher though, when Voights was manager of Scotland and was keen for the young players and in particular Fletcher.

Anyway Brown, and P Neville all have played for England at some point so obviously Eriksson thought/thinks they are up to it, and for Kleberson I believe he hasn't been near the Brazil team for some time?

He was - and still is - a hero to me, probably the only real hero I've ever had in my life (apart from Graeme Pollock).

The day he took over from Tim Ward as manager at Derby (in 1967 IIRC) many of us had mixed feelings. They lasted about an hour.

I reckon that if he had stayed with The Rams, we'd have had at least 5 league championships instead of the 2 we won, and I'm convinced that we would have had at least 1 or 2 European Cups - and the scumbuckets would have had nothing.

Well I remember he went in and got rid of Ian Buxton (who played cricket for Derbyshire) straight away on the basis he was of no use to him because he wasn't available for pre-season training.

I'm sure Derby have furthered in Champions League/European Cups then Arsenal!

AFAIK it's only for the 2 European competitions, but they're hoping the national federations will adopt it in some form or other.

Oh well, just think next season there's 2 divisions between you!

Agree regarding the quality of Rooney's goal - he's an absolute certainty for 'goal of the season' - becaust that one was only about his third best.

There's only one contender for goal of the season, and the only similarity is that his name also ends in "-ey".

Ronaldinho bagged the goal of the season in the Champions league game against Chelsea man.

i though anti niemi was good :( i am now inclined to believe otherwise, bring back paul smith, southampton are now staring relegation in the face, i cannot stand the thought of them going down and the horrible baggies staying up. no doubt i will still renew my membership there but i am very dissapointed with rupert lowe with the way he has handled the manager situation, redknapp is the man for the job but why on earth was so much time wasted with wigly ? :s

One, it's not eligble for English domestic goal of the season.

Two, it's not as good as Rooney/Berger/Safri/Edman/Moxey...

You have an arguement as far as the first point goes.

No question if you compare over all the goal of Ronaldinho. BOO.
