i felt newcastle was a bit unlucky aswel, not saying the ref was against them, but they could of got some decisions their way. Souness does have a habit of blaming ref's.
And as for the fight, ahh quality, i always thought newcastle games were boring (still have a bit of a grudge after newcastle knocked chelsea out of the fa cup). But that match of the fight for that matter was fun to watch :D

Watching the United match, and having criticised them earlier, we looked unlucky; Rooney hit the post, and we ran into Friedel in top form.

As for Man Utd being unlucky, it's not like the game is going to make any difference in the end anyway. Also they get Newcastle minus Dyer and Bowyer (and Taylor?) in the FA Cup now.

I want to ask some Arsenal fans/people in England a of couple of questions:

- Is there any thruth that Arsene Wenger is looking at signing Alvaro Recoba?
- Arsenal interested in Emre, after his future at the club is in doubt after he blasted his own team in a Turkish newspaper?
- Vieira to back to Italy with either Inter, Milan, or Juventus? (Even I can see that is very unlikely)
- Vieri is a target of Liverpool in the summer transfer window?
- Carlo Cudicini going back to Italy but with Roma to fight it out with current Italy internation Ivan Pelizoli for the goal keeping spot?

what i knew of it, cudicini pledged his future to chelsea after previous specualtion at the start of the season and christmas. but im not sure, if he wants to go back to italy thats fine with he will struggle to get into the chealsea line up and he's too good a keeper to do that.

FWIW:

-Recoba’s off, or so I’ve heard, but lots of rumours from Italy about him coming to us & not much over here.

-Wenger is a fan of Emre, but doubt we’d be able to compete if Moan U or Chelski come in for him. More substance to this rumour I’d guess.

-Nah, can’t see that @ all.If he can’t thrash out a deal with Real he won’t be going to Serie A where he had such an ar$e time of it before.

-I have heard that rumour, but I think it may be his agent talking up his next contract. I've heard Athletico Madrid linked with him too. They'd be the more likely destination as I can’t see Rafa being interested in a porky 32 year old with terrible fitness record.

-Cudicini was supposed to be going back last summer (the word round the campfire is his missus isn’t a fan of London), but decided to stay to fight it out. As Cech has def established himself as #1 I think he’ll be off somewhere. Ironically I’ve heard him linked with us too!

What about Sebastian Frey or Christian Abbati (Milan goal keeper) and reports in Italy have suggested Francesco Toldo could be off to England (obviously denied by the player and his agent), but he is 32/33 and isn't a long term option and comes off contract next season. Plus side is that he has retired from international football.

The one about Vieri going back to Altetico Madrid with Fernando Torres going the other way. But Inter would have to pay 30% of Vieri's wages.

well a win for Chelsea, but how easy did Ballack go down?

both English teams take wins to the second legs but i dont hold out much hope for Liverpool.

Be surprised if Chelsea fail to go through from here, but the away goal gives a very slight glimmer for Bayern. Liverpool have little chance IMO.

Dunno. Juve didn't impress me overly. If Carson (& is he the world's oldest looking 19-year old or what?! I look younger than him & I've got 10 years on him!) hadn't messed up you'd be looking at 2-0.

Stevie G needs a big game, but I'd rate it a 50/50 call.

excatly, it made me want to cry. Chelsea will go through, Liverpool wont, then Chelsea will play Juve in the next round ad then ac Milan in the final. Gerrard will be inspired by this and then move to Chelsea in the summer.

I don't think Liverpool have too much to worry about against Juventus, they just have to avoid playing like Andy Townsend suggests and they'll be fine (notice how that utter moron kept saying Liverpool should get men the behind the ball as soon as they scored and even more so after the second goal - great idea, you've got a team by the short and curlies and so you sit back and let them compose themselves instead of taking full advantage of them being rattled).

Liverpool have to go to Juve and go for goal, not this 'sneak a goal from somewhere' crap whilst Juve attack for 90 minutes because their defense & goalie aren't good enough to not make a horlicks of something.

Attacking wouldn't be the best way to go about it, as it would probably prove fruitless against Italians in Italy IMO. While they certaqinly shouldn't sit back, they shouldn't go out specifically to attack IMO.

If Liverpool score one Juve have to score 2 just to take it to extra time, if Liverpool score two then Juve have to score 4. We saw what happened when Liverpool got after Juve and what happened when they sat back and invited pressure. Juve have too much nous to get knocked out in a tight game (look at how many 1-0s they've had and that's all they need against Liverpool).

To be fair, you have a point about the 1-0's, but I don't hold much hope for Liverpool even getting 1, so I think their best bet is trying to defend it. I doubt they'll do that either, but it is IMO their best chance.
