Geez, i remember the 20 team comp but i dont remember the 10 team finals... typical NRL though reward mediocrity... half the teams make the semis...

Agreed, however I don't put it down to Jones. He has been pretty **** for the past 3 seasons. I actually think we overachieved a little this year with a pretty weak squad, and we will be even weaker next year. Our halves are bad to say the least.
I think Jones wasnt to bad this year... Yeah he wasn't as good as he was when they made the GF but he was way better then last year..

If I'm not mistaken the teams in the 1998 comp were the same as the 20 team comp from 1995, except minus the Crushers and Reds, plus the Storm and Rams, and with the Seagulls renamed as the Chargers. The Mariners, Crushers and Reds had disbanded in the meantime.

if canberra can keep their players fit they will avoid it and do well to run mid table, Storm still have some good players but no halfback and too many mistake prone players, warriors have the weakest roster and will get it i think...

I think i might be having some early $$ on the storm to get it.. They will be paying decent money for the spoon so could be some value..

yeh im thinking that, they are very light in depth and if Hill continues to be injury prone and Slater and or Smith get injured they are in real trouble...

Slater IMO is on the slide... Inglis should be their #1 next season...

Hill is only a 1/2 a season player...

Inglis will be a centre to replace bell, Inglis defence is another weakness too...

2 Leon Bott (Brisbane)
3 Greg Inglis (Storm)
4 Yileen Gordon (Souths)
5 Steve Michaels (Brisbane)

The Cowboys are the worst team I have ever seen make a grand-final. Tigers by 30.

Have to agree. I honestly can't believe they have made it. Conceding 50 points in the first week of the play offs and then making the grand final. It sux. I really don't like the Cowboys. They aren't worthy grand finalists.

Parramatta vs. Tigers would have been special.

IMO if the Panthers had have snuck into the 8 then they would probably be in the grand final. If you think about it, basically all of the teams that made the 8 were woefully out of form once the playoffs kicked off. The Panthers beat the Tigers in round 26 and would probably have beaten most sides in the 8.

Obviously the Dragons and Eels paid the price for having the week off and that cost them. IMO the top two sides should have the option of deciding whether they want the week off or not.
