Will Anasta go for the assumed (but not guaranteed) premiership at the Roosters or go for the money at the bunnies?

Gold Coast signs Carney
Nice to see another GB player have a go in the NRL. Shame we have to wait another year to see it tho. There was talk of him going to Souths for a season til the Gold Coast are up & running, but no mention of that in the report. Looks like he'll stay @ Wigan for 2006 instead.

Why pay big $$$ for a winger? Unless they're a quasi-forward, like Tuquiri and Sailor were, then it's a waste of money.

Doubt he's on a massive contract (not by our standards anyway). He'd have got more if he'd stayed up here in a country with a real currency!! :D

Seriously tho he'll be a banner player to attract other players (maybe even some more Brits) & he's like sh*t off a wet shovel too, so I don't doubt he'll score 15+ a season.

IIRC he is going to Newcastle for a year then come north?

Even if it is for a year Newcastle need all the help they can get.

Very true! :D

Have to say I hadn't heard that rumour, but there's been a lotta talk of him going to Souths for a season up here tho, probably 'cos he's something of a McRae prodigy having played under him at Gateshead & Hull.

I really would like to see more Brits have a go down there, but I guess the strength of the £ counts against it. Most decent Super League pros would be looking at a pay-cut to go. Although when it comes to places I'd like to live Wigan v the Gold Caost looks a bit of a no-brainer!!
