Superb victory for Manly. Feel sorry for the Panthers though.

Just shows that 4 scoring plays isn't too far to comeback from in the modern game.

Look at that game, SOO1 and the Warriors comeback against the Knights all from this season. All had to score 4 times to take the lead.

Broncoman did you have a look at the Warriors game? Amazing weather!

Haha it was a 2 o'clock game and they had to put the lights on so that the players and spectators could see.

I thought the conditions added to the game. It made it interesting because you don't see such extreme wet weather footy much these days.

Although as a spectacle it wasn't flash i enjoyed a diferent style game. It was a nice change.

Steve Price's injury is bad news for Warriors and QLD supporters

yeh 8 weeks apparently, our only options appear to be nutley or tronc... personally i think ben ross should start and tronc come on to the bench...

It was only a matter of time before the Warriors won back to back matches. The only game this season where they have been totally outplayed was actually the Tigers match back in Christchurch in the early rounds.

Apart from that they've either won or missed out by 4 or 6 points so hopefully now they can put together 4 or 5 consecutive wins to cement a top #8 spot.

Quite funny, really incredibly heavy rain at Ericcsson for the game but where I live it was sunshine and blue sky throughout the match.

Without Price i doubt they will beat St George away.. they will be licking their wounds after losing to Melbourne

St George will be an extremely tough ask I think. If they can beat the Dragons without Price then there's no reason why they couldn't beat any other top team.

It will hurt the Warriors more than QLD. But it is still a big loss for QLD. BUGGER!

Ben Ross is useless, I'd rather have him out of the side.

What a comeback by Manly, the last 20 minutes was awsome. I don't think we will lose a game at home this season, unless we get a friday or saturday night game.

Keep it going Manly all the way to finals, i hope Kite gets picked for NSW next game, his been brilliant all season for us.

It good to see Price out for the next two orgin games, i would go for Tronic, his been in really good form for NQ. You would think that if Carrol fit then Casey and David Stagg are good a chance. I heard that Stagg was first option as Carrol replacement but he had a slight injury.

carroll will be back forcing mcguire out of the side. Price is a prop so stagg and mcguire are out of the question. Tronc and Nutley are the only options we have really, apart from pulling shane webcke out of retirement, but thats not going to happen...

There pretty good option if you ask me, both would have thought they were pretty unlucky to miss out in the first game.

Souths swoop in $6.5m bid

June 9, 2005

THE South Sydney Rabbitohs are poised to pull off the rugby league signing coup of the decade by snaring champion halves Braith Anasta and Matt Orford in a $6.5 million package deal.

The Daily Telegraph can today reveal Anasta will become the highest paid player in the game on a $4 million deal over five years and that Orford will earn more than $500,000-a-season if they sign after the June 30 anti-tampering deadline.

The Anasta deal is backed by a third party, a huge firm whose representatives have been secretly working behind the scenes to pull together an agreement.

Because of the severity of the NRL's anti-tampering fines, with clubs facing penalties of up to $1 million for rogue dealing, Souths boss Shane Richardson has not officially put the offer to Anasta or his manager Greg Willett. But they are both aware of the amount that will be offered once the Rabbitohs CEO puts the deal on the table.

Richardson said last night: "We're sitting back and waiting until July 1 when we can officially do business."

Sources believe the offer to Anasta is simply too good to refuse and that Orford has all but agreed with his manager George Mimis to join the Rabbitohs, as long as the Bulldogs champion signs.

Melbourne Storm have given up all hope of retaining the star halfback, who was poised to join Manly last week before being won over by the Rabbitohs.

Mimis was careful with his words yesterday but conceded the once great South Sydney club presented an enormous challenge for Orford.

"Matt thinks it would be excellent to be part of a South Sydney revival," Mimis said.

"It would be really exciting for not only the Rabbitohs but for rugby league in general.

"He couldn't do it single handedly but he's obviously interested and we'll see what eventuates.

"We've had lengthy negotiations for many weeks with Melbourne and unfortunately we haven't been able to reach an agreement at this stage.

"A number of other clubs, here and overseas, have also expressed an interest."

When asked if he was prepared to wait until July 1 to listen to what Souths plan to offer, Anasta said: "I've come this far and I haven't signed so I'm probably better off waiting.

"It's probably looking that way. It's not long to go.

"But at the moment I don't really want to talk about next year. I'm in Origin camp and my complete focus is on the game next Wednesday night."

Bulldogs chairman George Peponis admitted last night it was now a two-horse race between his club and the Rabbitiohs for the most prized signature on the open market.

Anasta is a former Souths junior from Maroubra and had informal talks with his uncle George Piggins over dinner last week.

if they pull all tthat off that would be amazing, those players mightnot be worth that much but they have a fair bit of room under tha salary cap im sure so they can probably still afford to sign more players :)

It looks all but settled that Ofrord & Anasta will be at Souths. Big deal for them and it could mean they hold onto Harrison, which they really need to.

seems like the newcastle situation. they are gonna pay truckloads for a couple of good players but have duds playing around them. it may mean they wont come last, but i doubt it will be enough to get them in the 8. Anasta would be better served playing lock for them if Harrison goes. John Sutton is a quality 5/8 and would is already one of their best players.

It is better than having no quality players like they have atm. At least with 2 or 3 quality halves they are at least more likely to attract some bigger name players than if they didn't.

it will be interesting to see who else they go for. obviously they wont get guys like Bailey and O'Hara cause they wont be able to afford it given the money they will be paying Orford and Anasta. Also Joe Williams is sitting in reserve grade taking up a bit of cash. they had to pay him a lot more than hes worth because Manly were interested last season.
