New Zealand Off Season 2014

Would've thought he's a significantly better spinner, batsman and fielder than Jono Boult. Probably a better T20 player in all three disciplines than Sodhi is too, if you weren't all slightly weird and completely head over heels about Sodhi up there.

Yeah, if I had to pick one of them I'd probably go with Santner. Better all round cricketer for sure. But Boult was rather effective during the HRV cup with his around the wicket dart crap.

Nah NZC will just keep it at two I guess. The can't really make it all touristy like the Caribbean comp, and would need to play HRV games at 4am to get an Asian broadcast deal.

I'm suprised the Tridents are allowed to do that with Franklin tbh. I thought the whole idea of Otago getting Brett Lee over to Dunedin was because the guy had to play at least one domestic game for you beforehand. Maybe they were granted an exemption due to losing Dwayne Smith and Shoaib Malik to other teams.
I did see Franklin playing in the CPL, are you saying it was for another team?

Aldo will go ok.
He won't play.

As has been said, he shouldn't even be in the squad. He only played a couple of games last year and he was terrible. He won't offer anything in these conditions that a Stryis or even Michell couldn't.

Roach said ND was now going through the process of seeking a replacement player through the technical committee of the Champions League Twenty20 and were expecting to get a decision by the end of the week.

''There's no guarantee, but we think Dan's exceptional circumstances should be viewed favourably.''

It's likely a replacement would have to come from an extended squad already supplied to tournament organisers.

Contenders include Australian pace bowler Chris Tremain, seamer Anurag Verma, a like-for-like swap in left-arm spinner and batsman Mitchell Santner and batsman Jono Hickey.

But the Scorchers will miss Ben Smith, who has relocated to Melbourne for work, and impressive all-rounder Alecz Day, who is set to play first-class cricket in New Zealand.

"That's a huge loss for us," Gardiner said of Day.

Yep, looks like the Firebirds going on another trip to the well. The Stewart Rhodes Memorial Well.

He said he felt more comfortable batting in the middle order and relished the opportunity to bat there for the Scorchers.

“I prefer batting at five or six,” he said.

“Obviously, I want to be known as an all-rounder. I just prefer to bat in the middle order. I just don’t feel comfortable batting at No.3.

“I struggled a bit at No.3 (for the seconds) and it showed. I had a few technical issues.

“I scored a few runs, but you need to turn those 50s into big scores. Half-centuries don’t win matches.”

I honestly don't know which part of that video is my favourite -- the boots, the use of industrial equipment controlled by a banana to dump water over his head, the dodgy rendition of 'Let it Go', the fact that he was having a barbeque right on the edge of a river, or that he couldn't even remember the disease he was doing it for.
