New Zealand Domestic Season 2006/07

Good to see Tuffey back and bowling again claiming his first wicket in his 8 overs he has bowled thus far. HE was going for less than 2 I think. I dont know much of Mcintosh but this is a great performance from him. I am pleased to see Ryder, McCullum and Franklin in with runs but its the same old for the Marshall twins. Nicol looks to be a good prospect for the future of New Zealand cricket.

McIntosh was a really promising opener a couple of years ago who went through a really lean patch...looks like he's coming into some form again at last. Great to see.

Griggs looked amazing yesterday, was seeing it well, playing shots in good time, had the better of Franklin off both feet. A great off-drive is stuck in my mind.

Greg Hay 98* just realised that it is infact his debut innings. Couldn't have started better.
Well maybe another two runs.........
He was quite a grafter from what i saw (last hour before lunch until tea) but steady defence and played Patel quite well. His strike rate wasnt much I'd imaigne. Good innings though of course.

Bevan Griggs is a handy batsman, I remeber watching the final last year and McCullum was giving him absolute death from behind the stumps. Calling him Kevin and saying this wa the worst innings ever, kept it up for quite a while but stopped after Griggs started hitting some runs. Good to see McIntosh back in form, he wasn't that good last year from what I can remember. Was Tuffey bowling at full pace or just working back to top fitness? I noticed Shane Bond played yesterday too which is good for Canterbury but possibly bad for the Black Caps.

Anyone know why Hogg only bowled 4 overs on the second day? Injury? seems strange given his figures we're quite decent in the scheme of the innings

I know I've been a little disappointed with how Craig Cumming has used his bowlers, he has gone back to Nathan McCullum and Aaron Redmond whenever the batting team seems to be gaining the advantage rather than try and get a few wickets with guys like James McMillan and Kyle Hogg. Poor captaincy I think, there hasn't been any report that he was injured.

Also Mal Loye was lbw to Kyle Hogg on 11 so he didn't have the best of start's to his new season.

The Wellington-Central game is set up for a good finish. 163/5 needing 227 to win, and Franklin's just picked up his third wicket.

oh dear, Mal Loye retired hurt, injured his calf in the warmup.

Anyway strange goings on in Auckland-Otago.

Last night Otago bowled part timers for 17 overs, presumably to illicit a declaration, this morning its back to front liners...

Quite unfortunate about Mal Loye, I hope he is alright because it's good for NZ cricket to get these kind of players over here and playing. Indeed, it is very odd because I think Craig Cumming's first 8 overs went for 53 as he was probably trying to give Auckland enough runs to get a declaration. Perhaps Auckland are only interested in first innings points and not the outright win.
