Cricketer Of The Year
Has the season already started? I notice no live coverage on CricInfo, the only channel I've got, with no TV coverage here.

Canterbury are currently 114/1 with Todd Astle getting his highest FC score of 56 before being trapped LBW to Nathan McCullum, Brendon McCullum is 47*. They are still about 130 runs short of making Otago bat again and this game will head to a draw unless one of the bowlers can make some serious inroads soon. Canterbury's first innings got to 367 thanks to centuries from old hands Craig McMillan and Chris Harris. The pick of the Otago bowlers was James McMillan who took career best figures of 7/105 off 27 overs. Nathan McCullum and Aaron Redmond shared the other wickets.

I quite like James McMillan. Anyone who can take 7 wickets on a batsman's dream like this has gotta be pretty useful, and I heard from somewhere that he's quite quick as well. Unfortunately he's already 28 so we probably won't ever here much from him before the end of his career.

He has been plagued with injuries I think, him and Warren McSkimming make a pretty handy opening attack and both are pretty nippy, can move the ball. It's a real pity that he has had these injuries really beacuse he could've had a few games for the Black Caps. I've been a little disappointed with the rest of our bowlers though, even on a batsman's paradise we had to rely McMillan.

Both McCullum's have played pretty well in this game, I really hope Nathan can start bowling to his potential and get the wickets that he should be getting. Brendan could find a permanent spot at the top of the order for Canterbury, and depending on how he goes in his next game could possibly find himself there for the Black Caps aswell. Anybody know why Michael Papps isn't playing? Peter Fulton looking good on 43*.

I must admit that I completely forgot about the game being played today, two more games start tomorrow aswell. Auckland are hosting Otago and Canterbruy take on Northern Districts.

The big three for Central Districts, Ross Taylor, Jamie How and Matthew Sinclair will all be looking for some runs to stake claims for a test spot against Sri Lanka.

looking forward to the Otago - Auckland game, Hogg had a terrible start to the season but Mal Loye should be making his debut for Auckland against him.

I didn't know the Lincoln Green had been moved from the South to the North Island...

Sorry, my mistake I just noticed where that game is being played. Why are the venues neutral for alot of these games? I notice on the 29th of November that Auckland and Northern Districts are to be playing at QEII park, is this normal practice?

Jesse Ryder in the runs again. Lets hope he gets picked this year now thar Styris is out of the SL tests.

The supposed theory is there's better weather on the east coast of the South Island at this time of year.

Says the man from Oamaru. Wellington currently 246/5 with Michael Parlane and Jesse Ryder both hitting fifties, Ewen Thompson collecting two wickets after being expensive early on. James Franklin looks set for a half century, 42* at the moment and it's interesting to see Jamie How getting through a few overs of his medium pace to prove to his versatility to Bracwell.

Great to see some openers amongst the runs, I can't help but feel these few games are vital to the opening batsman. Cumming had a 50 the other day, McCullum got a couple in the same game and now Parlane has one. Good stuff.

I don't know why they didn't play the Otago game here. Club cricket has been on grass right from the off-set here and the Centennial Park pitch is in excellent nick. And technically, I'm from Dunedin - I'm just passing through Oamaru VERY slowly... :p
