You haven't said the reason for mentioning Holt's name. Because he was a West Indian opener, who after failing to score many runs in the tests also dropped a few catches !!
So the Irrate fans placed placards with the above words- Save Hylton, Hang Holt.

Q6 Is it to do with dismissing someone off the first ball of a Test ?
(Gavaskar was out first ball of a Test a couple of times and Ernie appears to have snared a wicket off the very first ball in an Ashes Test ! )
If not only then consider this - does it have to do with no-balls bowled ?

Clue= It is a rare skill that Ernie had, that not many Cricketers have had or to many people. That linked him with the other more famous players, all of whom I would think did/do not have this skill. He is linked more closly with Frank.
