You managed them! I would have liked to be one of their players.Neil Pickup said:Our Under 15s had a difficult time of things last season. Small squad (in both senses of the word - height and numbers) and 26 players used (U13s, U11s filling in). It was not easy to manage them
Most of them can touch 60mph when flat out but they then spray a hell of a lot - so more consistent at around 50 (and some (ie my brother) sometimes start bowling at 40 in games with some nice 30mph slower balls - play and miss twice, then edge it well short of the keeper standing up)- the fastest are around that mark consistently and accurately.
Fastest junior player at the club is U17 and is low-mid 70s.
I like to think I did a reasonable job in difficult conditions Less than can be said about the umpiring, though. Actually, it was better than the other teams' umpires.halsey said:You managed them! I would have liked to be one of their players.
You can keep Brett Lee and we'll stick to Glenn McGrath, thanksOriginally posted by halsey I hate to say this but there is one really quick guy at Essex U13's who can match your U17. But, being so quick for his age, he is inaccurate. If not, England sure fire. :P But your guy is class if he can do that. :P
Good choice. I'm afraid our guy is a bit all over the place.Neil Pickup said:You can keep Brett Lee and we'll stick to Glenn McGrath, thanks
Give him a few years, so long as the action isn't mixed then with practice he should get some control.halsey said:Good choice. I'm afraid our guy is a bit all over the place.
My batting was better than the bowling in 2002, you'll find.halsey said:OK. I just had a look at your statistics, Neil, on your webpage. Batting: Crap. Bowling: Not much better! :P Well, for 2002, anyway.
About 80-85 m.p.h. at U15's - my age, I would have thought.SpaceMonkey said:Thats some pretty impressive speeds...its a shame we dont know what speed the likes of Brett Lee / Aktar was bowling at, at that age as a comparison.
I've played against this guy who is modeled on Glenn, but bowls at about 45mph max, which is how fast I bowl when I bowl spinners! Still he's stupidly accurate and gets me most times, though he's allways had an out-field green pitch to bowl on.Neil Pickup said:You can keep Brett Lee and we'll stick to Glenn McGrath, thanks
Aye. Bit of re-modelling this year and things are improvedhalsey said:Proper leg-spin then - Nice and inaccurate, that's the way it's meant to be!
Perhaps it's because he far better at number 3?Richard said:Butcher's inexplicable relucatance to open.
Richard said:Solanki didn't have a great last season but, quite simply, he has a better overall First-Class record than most who aren't already Test players or haven't already failed in Tests. You can't look past that, because there isn't anything to look at.
Since the over went for "only" 22, it is inaccurate to say most of them since there can only be a maximum of 3 sixes hit, and 3 out of 6 isn't most.Neil Pickup said:Most of them went 3-4 metres over PY's head at midwicket and into the Tennis Courts
When Brett Lee was playing Under 15's he was bowling to the Australian team as a net bowler , Allan Border said he first saw Brett in 1993/94 & even at 15 he was that quick it was scary.halsey said:About 80-85 m.p.h. at U15's - my age, I would have thought.
