yes i did know thatCraig said:And if you knew anything about the history of your club, Manchester United I believe were once known as Meadow Heath.
Ironically The Billionaire Tyrant Murdoch (copyright The Simpsons ) tried to buy ManUre himself a few years back. His bid was chucked out by the monopolies & mergers commission because, as the majority shareholder in BSkyB (who televise the prem in the UK) there was seen as a conflict of interest.JASON said:An Aussie Rupert Murdoch owns the Times Newspapers in England, the Wall street Journal, LA Dodgers and some other sports Teams in the US !!
So why the hell do you not object to that ?
Whats the big difference between the two !! Why this big anti American Xenophobia ?
Well, because of the new stadium he built, Tampa Bay citizens are going to pay half half cent tax increase for next 30 years.Craig said:Um I don't suppose he raised ticket prices when he brought the club, and although I'm not a big as fan on the NFL as I used to, gee when did Tampa Bay win the Super Bowl? Must have been a few years?
Story I've heard is that his son spent a year living with a diehard Spurs supporter, then a year later was a MU fan. Sounds strange doesn't it? It is like me going to live with some diehard Necastle supporters (and as an unattached supporter for this example) whose whole life dicates around the club's matches then 6 months later announcing I'm actually a born again Norwich fan. Even though it is probably a day's drive to get there.Agent TBY said:I read somewhere that he was taking the club over because his son is a huge, huge fan of Man Utd.Not sure if its true or not.But honestly talking about somebody's evil intentions is ridiculous.
Don't you think they have legitmate cause of concern when he buys a debt free club and with the reports I have read make the club £300m in debt and have to sell Old Trafford?marc71178 said:So if all else fails, it's time for abuse then - Fact remains it doesn't matter what the fans say, as a plc the club were always open to a takeover provided someone had enough money. To be honest I don't think anyone kicking up a stink can be called an objective fan at all.
That was the prelimenary offer, which the club rejected.Reports say he has considerably reduced the amount of debt required for the takeover, and promised not only that the stadium will not be sold, but it will be improved as well.Craig said:Don't you think they have legitmate cause of concern when he buys a debt free club and with the reports I have read make the club £300m in debt and have to sell Old Trafford?
Afraid he can't make that promise. The report I read has United taking on debts of £265 million. That's a very big debt for any football club, especially one that has already been marketed so aggressively. I reckon there's few revenue streams United don't already persue and their last half-yearly net profit (with no debt to service) was only £12 million. If the club is unable to service the debt ultimately all of its assets (including the stadium) could be seized by creditors to recoup their losses.Agent TBY said:That was the prelimenary offer, which the club rejected.Reports say he has considerably reduced the amount of debt required for the takeover, and promised not only that the stadium will not be sold, but it will be improved as well.
Do you think he got where he is today by making decisions that would end up in bankruptcy?Craig said:Don't you think they have legitmate cause of concern when he buys a debt free club and with the reports I have read make the club £300m in debt and have to sell Old Trafford?
The "debt" people are talking about is actually the amount of money Glazer is borrowing to takeover the club. It's not United's debt, but I see where you are going because if Glazer cannot repay the money,he will sell Manchester United,as a whole club, not individual assets of the club.BoyBrumby said:Afraid he can't make that promise. That's a "worst case scenario", of course.
And I'm not saying he doesn't.marc71178 said:Do you think he got where he is today by making decisions that would end up in bankruptcy?
Anyone who amasses that amount of money knows what he is doing.
Right-O,let's have two horse races back, the way it used to be.chris.hinton said:I Hope Glazer is all wrong for Man U, Man United have destroyed English football by stopping Sharing money, so they can get fatter and fatter
