This was done less than a year ago, but hues someone is trying to prove a point.

This forum has an elevated view of bowling all rounders and the result of this poll was only going to go one direction, but I agree fully with your post.

Marshall is the guaranteed 3rd name of my AT team sheet. I know @Coronis goes with Gilchrist, but combined with the fact that the first two are batsman, the importance of the position and some may philosophically prefer Knott as the better keeper, I would go Marshall. There's no competition between your premier strike bowler and wicket keeper.

There's no more important role in cricket than your strike bowler, and in this any any comp not including Bradman, I'm going Marshall.
So you’d pick Marshall before Sobers? Does this also mean there’s an argument for Marshall with Bradman like there is for Sobers?

Lol he also rates Sobers ahead for Bradman as a cricketer, so I don't know how he squares that circle.

And he puts Marshall number three. He is inflating Marshalls reputation which is odd given how he supposedly values pundit opinion.

Basically Marshall's entire career, including almost an exact date match. But taking more WPM, cheaper, and not getting dropped a whole lot on the back of poor perfomances at the start.

Posted just before Kyear decided to downgrade Hadlee to tier 2. I reckon I may have to downgrade Marshall to tier 3
As I understand it, this is @kyear2's current classification scheme:

Tier 1 GOAT A: Marshall
Tier 1 GOAT B: McGrath
Tier 1 non-GOAT: Hadlee

or it could be:

Tier 1 GOAT 1: Marshall
Tier 1 GOAT 2: McGrath
Tier 1 non-GOAT: Hadlee

This is my current (and forever more) classification scheme:

GOAT: Hadlee
non-GOAT: every other MFer

All of you on Kyears case are full of it. A week ago, and most of you know the thread, an idiot was on here rating Kapil Dev above every wi batsmen from the 70s/80s vs spin. That same genius rated about dozen contemporary players over Lara vs spin. Some of the same people giving kyear a hard time said zilch. So kindly give the hypocrisy a rest. Fwiw, kyear and i disagree on quite a few things and aren't afraid to let each other know respectfully.....

You are being disingenuous. Kyear outright called Kapil an average bowler and suggested it was inconceivable a team would pick Kapil over Walsh. And he was rightly blasted for that take. Let folks fight their own fights but if you can't then at least represent the arguments properly.

Could say the same about you and that Mig fellow....
Huh? Not sure which take I was defending of his, all I said is that if we diverge so much I don't see the point arguing with him.

Whereas you are misrepresenting the critique of Kyear on Kapil vs Walsh.
