So how come he didn't kick?
I think Matt Giteau was an uncertainty to play and was only a definite starter on the day - that wasa probably the reason behind Sterling Mortlock and then Matt Gerrard taking the kicks with Giteau in doubt during the week.

Haha alright Somerset I will admit that I made an error of judgement.

I went to the game.. great stuff to watch.

Shocked to see the Highlanders lose by so much.

I think they might beat the Crusaders though (upset)
Well even a Blues supporter was impressed by the Hurricanes last night, especially during the second half with Nonu's hat-trick and another handful of tries on his wing.

The Highlanders were fairly average against the Waratahs and I was also surprised. The Waratahs forwards usually dominated against the strong Highlanders pack and they almost look to be a certainty for a home semi. Even with their woeful record against the Reds, I'd back them to win - Queensland were poor in their match against the Cats and if the Cats had a little more luck, they probably would've won.

I didn't see the South African matches on either morning but the Bulls are right back in contention now too - and effectively stand a much better chance than the Blues and Highlanders with two South African sides to play.

Not by their performance last night at least...

Yea fair call they played well last night but I would fancy my chances at knocking them over if I was one of the semi finalists.

Totally missed out on the deadline because of short a trip !! *blames a hot date for his loss of focus* :D

Damn the Brumbies !! Their season is over in such a lame losing streak (surely unprecedented for them ), after such a brilliant start that promised at least a Super 12 Semi finalist spot !!
Wonder what the record losing streak is in the Super 12 !! (ie. number of continuous losses - Brumbies currently 5 in a row !! :-O :-O :@ )

Semi finalists, surely must Be Crusaders, Hurricanes, Highlanders , Waratahs or Blues !!

Blues will need to play out of their skin if they want to tip the Tahs out of the Semis.

I think the Cats must hold that streak with their record in the Super 12 - I think the Brumbies are fairly safe at the moment of not having that rather unwanted honour.

And as I mentioned this morning, don't count the Bulls out - with their run to the semis they have just as good or even better chances than the Highlanders and Blues.

BTW, don't worry about missing the deadline, you weren't the only one as I was busy too and could only post the matches with less than 12 hours until the opening match of the round.

May be this year !! But we will rise again next year to our Dominant form !! Take it from me ! This year is a blip because of Lions Tour !! :D

The Waratahs are pretty much guarenteed a semi spot
Yep, Crusaders and Waratahs have effectively secured a semi-final spot even if they lose their remaining two matches. I would back the Waratahs to at least beat the Reds, while I can't see the Crusaders losing to the Highlanders.

Next year when Gregan, Larkham, Rathbone, etc. return from injury, we'll see a much better Brumbies side - although I feel they have played poorly this year, injuries have been a major factor in their loss of form so I wouldn't count them out for a decent 2006.

Why does the Lions tour matter?

The Brumbies are on the way down and I doubt they will ever be the dominant force they once were with all their former stars starting to leave the game and retire.

For the next five years or so the Aussie teams won't be up to much as they don't have enough talent at present to accomidate the Western Force.
