Bounce is getting him as much as seam movement. But in England it will swing and probably seam a bit too. So how will he not knick those deliveries?Honestly Gavaskar said it recently that this flaw in his technique is baked in the cake at this point. But he made a point of saying that the extra bounce in Australia is what is causing these dismissals again and again which may not apply to England as much.
Frankly even if Kohli scores in England he may want to call it quits. Not much happening after that.Bounce is getting him as much as seam movement. But in England it will swing and probably seam a bit too. So how will he not knick those deliveries?
England will officially end his career, because selectors and BCCI don't have the guts to drop him already.
That ton of course achieved when he arrived at the wicket at the high pressure situation of (checks notes) 275-2!!Partly because of that bogus hundred in the 1st test in Perth, Kohli is gonna be picked for England. If he had absolutely flopped the entire series, there was a fair chance he'd be moved on from tests already. But he has a ton next to his name and that would give him and selectors a little "hope" that he can maybe rediscover something...
Yeah he can rediscover his 2014 England form lol.
.
Overshot there by a bit as things stand. Seems like he wants to stick around, but I doubt he's getting more than two Tests in England if his issues persist. Which they probably will unless he does the hard yards and plays some serious county in the leadup. If he does, I can see him inching up again to a high-water mark of 48 at best. He's going to finish just shy of 47.5. Already down to 48.74 with serious examinations coming up.
That too in the second innings with an overall lead well over 300. Australia just resorted to just bowling a lot of Lyon and Marnus overs towards the end too. About as downhill as it gets. That ton of course achieved when he arrived at the wicket at the high pressure situation of (checks notes) 275-2!!
I don't see how he can play County Cricket. The IPL Final is less than a month before the First Test. As we've seen previously, India don't tend to do well straight off the back of that when really the players just want a break, not a high profile Test Series.Overshot there by a bit as things stand. Who are those people?I like Kohli as a player but people are being hopeful to the point of delusion if they think Kohli is somehow going to fare better in the 1-2 years than what he’s delivered in the past 5 years.
Literally 3 posts above me is what spurred my comment. Kohli’s average unfortunately will be only moving down going forwards.Who are those people?

I want Kohli to destroy in England so we can laugh at them.I think he has a chance of a good series in England, 300+ runs, a ton and a 40+ average.
I believe pitches in England have been flatter since Stokes took over and batting has got easier. Stokes wants his bowlers to bowl more attacking and IF they bowl full Kohli will have a chance to do well. Also, Rohit and Jaiswal have had good recent series against ENG and if they go well Kohli can do what he did in Perth.
There's my little bit of hope for Kohli's fans.
Nah, it's just because he's Kohli. Any other player and he would've been ditched 18 months ago at the latest (see Pujara who started looking washed around the same time as Virat). Runs are immaterial, it's all about the brand.Partly because of that bogus hundred in the 1st test in Perth, Kohli is gonna be picked for England. I feel he is only hanging on because he wants to play the next world cup in late 2027. Tendulkar retired 15 months short of the 2015 WC. Kohli's much further away. Can't see him lasting almost 3 years from here, even in limited overs alone. His skills will wane.
Tbf, I do strongly believe players of his calibre deserve a longer rope than others, so its not just brand, there's cricketing reasons to want to persist with someone who has had a pretty great career. But that rope should've ran out a while back anyway.Nah, it's just because he's Kohli.
