Kallis retires from Tests

Have you selected the global edition? There is a tiny menu on top. Cricinfo is thoroughly professional. They are not going to leave Kallis' retirement inadequately covered.
Tendulkar's retirement was the headline on every edition; in fact, it dominated Cricinfo for days if not weeks.

The fact Kallis hasn't been given the same treatment is clearly a BCCI conspiracy related to Lorgan fallout.

Heard that the BCCI told people in Durban to not turn up and watch Kallis score a ton in his last test as well.

Durban's pretty much a BCCI outpost, isn't it. I heard they were looking at the next IPL expansion being a Durban franchise.

There were also more threads on CW about Tendulkar's retirement than about Kallis. It might just be that Tendulkar is bigger cricketing star globally?

What you will not get is a biased coverage on cricinfo. They have already done features on "Is Kallis better #4 than Tendulkar" and "Is Kallis better all-rounder than Sobers" already.

The Sachin retirement thread on CW was also a much more pompous affair. My god, CW has been hacked by the BCCI as well. and would you look at Cricinfo's bias: Get Cullinan as the SA expert knowing he is going to put Kallis down <evil laugh> and Having a piece on how wonderful Barry Richards was to steal Kallis' thunder. Awful.

Well, the 15 NZD I was offered by the BCCI to "big up and 'ting" (their words, not mine) Tendulkar's retirement from an NZ perspective were not accepted. I'm worth more than 15 NZD. L'oriel told me so in a wet dream. As such, I have taken it upon myself to redress the imbalance between reporting of Kallis and Tendulkar by publishing my memoirs "Heath: The Kallis Years". I have received a strongly worded letter from The BCCI telling me that my candidacy to replace David White at NZC will be undermined using every weapon at their disposal. In unrelated news, Ravi Shastri has offered to be my campaign manager and I, of course, have accepted his offer.

Pretty good reading.

Ian Chappell on the retirements of Graeme Swann and Jacques Kallis | Cricinfo Magazine | ESPN Cricinfo

Just days after Swann's controversial retirement, the game lost the calm and clinical efficiency of the most successful allrounder in Test history, when South Africa's Jacques Kallis pronounced his departure with all the fanfare of an airline announcement. Kallis left the game in the same way he graced it; with no fuss, no controversy, and a lot of dignity. In years to come, as they gaze upon the cold, hard statistics, young cricket fans will wonder what the old-timers were gushing about when they said Garry Sobers is the best cricketer of all time.
Martin Crowe: Jacques Kallis' legacy ranks with the best | Cricinfo Magazine | ESPN Cricinfo

Kallis played in a way that was systematic and controlled; he never blinked an eyelid, his heart rate seemed to hardly go up. It was like he was robotically programmed to conquer the world and dismantle all attacks, retaining all function and power no matter the challenges
