Is it? I know we’re getting into checklist territory here but he averages sub 40 against everyone bar Australia and Windies (who I’ve already covered).

Taylor on the other hand despite playing more teams averages sub 40 against fewer nations (3 compared to 4).

I think Taylor takes it due to longevity and a better rounded record but hey, agree to disagree.
Yeah, let's agree to disagree then. Turner was on opener, played for a weaker team and by well rounded, I meant he averaged 35+ against all the teams.

This was a **** show.... The level of Indian pacers in the past has been ****ing atrocious for the most part..... ****ing Vijay Hazare squeezed in!! Anyways, I only ranked those pacers who played atleast one Test, with most of the emphasis on Test, but also some in the domestic level. Haven't included Amir Elahi as he played mostly for Pakistan.

Hopefully Root can do well in Aus and end with a 50+ average to really prove me wrong.

It’s pretty hilarious (and embarrassing) how England havent produced an undisputed ATG batsman/bowler since the 1960s but it would be good to see Root change this.
England have an imbalance between pre-1970 and post-1970. Thought it was an interesting point from Coronis that the 1966 FIFA world cup win might have done damage to cricket in England. Obviously there are other factors.

It would be funny to see it continue but most England fans probably do deserve a few undisputed ATGs so don’t mind Root getting there although I still think it’s unlikely he does well in Aus and ends with a 50+ average. I’m confident Brook will end up with that status though.
