Barnes is greater than anyone bar McGrath/Marshall/Hadlee. Bumrah is not yet even clear of guys like Garner.

even in technicalities, Barnes constantly bowled bowls that would swing visibly in one direction and then cut to another the moment they pitch full

O Reilly + 10-20 kmph of pace + swing both ways? Modern batters would get cooked.

he is a bowler with nearly 200 wickets at 19.5 in an era where the next guy is mid 22s.

don’t dismiss him.
I mean, he's in the form of his life so seems very dominant, it mustn't be forgotten that not too long ago Cummins was averaging 21.15 and Rabada is actively averaging 21.5, Hazlewood is also averaging 20.8 since 2020, Jamieson, Jamieson also 19.7 for now. Definitely a very bowler friendly era, and I don't think Bumrah is as far ahead as someone like Steyn ngl

I love Bumrah more than any person I have never talked to; and I don't think he is non arguably ahead of Cummins yet.

Yeah, Cummins is more proven on flatties and there's no way Bumrah maintains that average till the end of his career.

No way Bumrah is better than Barnes. He is on neck to neck with Cummins right now and yet to steer clear of others as the current best bowler let alone all time.

Need more recent bias in this sport. When it comes strictly to playing cricket and skills Barnes is nowhere near Bumrah. If you talk about greatness that's a different topic but just being better? Bumrah all day. 29 year old Barnes once tried to get a raise from his 3 pounds a week salary at his club and his club dropped him forever. Cricket wasn't a serious sport played by full time professionals back then. Transport bumrah in a time machine to Barnes era. He would play 15 matches average 5 with the ball then be killed for witchcraft.

actual Rubbish, Cricket started gaining popularity in the golden age, humans didn't gain new limbs/hands and bodies to become 10× better in 15 years.

Grace earned more than a million pounds in today's valuation, despite being an "amateur".
