As a viewer, I found those five the most riveting to watch.

I know he did not play much in Asia but pre injury Ambrose is the best bowler I have seen.

After watching Bumrah bowl in recent times, I question myself if this guy can better than him.
No question great outside Asia. did not bowl in India ever- cricinfo says no matches is a big asterisk.

Bumrah simply insane in SAF, AUS and India - which is why i rate him as the 2nd best after Marshall. If he can have a very good series v ENG in June, its possible to have Bumrah as the no.1. If bumrah has an average series in ENG in June, Bumrah will remain in 2nd place.

I think @kyear2 posted a week back on how pretty much every great fast bowler has a flaw in their records.

Surprisingly Bumrah’s flaw so far is his record against NZ. I think we should wait for his career to finish. But yeah as of now he is one of the best ever.

If it was just one series it would be fine.

But he has played two series(though just 2 tests) and hasn’t done well. It is not a huge flaw though.

Eh, his away tour was fine. He wasn't excellent but very good in the 2nd Test (of the 2 matches). The match he really sucked in the most vs them was the WTC Final. Also, like failing vs New Zealand is a sign of a Great player (see Sobers).

He has a player of the series award in England.

Why do you have Bumrah ahead of McGrath?

Interesting comparison by Kimber of Bumrah with Cummins and Rabada. Cummins a bit closer to Bumrah than originally thought.

I would like to know how he calculates Match Factor, because apparently it is important and McGrath is ahead of every bowler by this measure.

Didn't realize Bumrah bowled more balls per match than Rabada. Understandable ig, as he plays many short lasting tests.

I think the formula for bowlers is something like this:
Match factor = Given bowler's avg (in certain matches)/All other bowlers' combined avg (in the same matches played)

So basically on average, McGrath was 60 percent better than the other bowlers in his games. Whereas Bumrah and Cummins are 34 and 32 percent.

Makes sense but I am not sure how much that tells us because if you happen to play with more worldclass bowlers in that game your factor will be lower.

If you play with **** batsmen on your own team your match factor will be lower too.

It's actually the reverse of it, but yeah I checked it and the numbers do match (also this video is for pacers only).
So the exact formula is:
MF = All other bowlers' combined avg in the same matches played)/Given bowler's avg in those matches
