More than gettin wickets, importantly Zak has bowled a good number of overs without injuring himself. ;)

Abhinav Mukund has a very impressive conversion rate- fifteen hundreds to ten fifties. He's close to fifty domestic games, and at the end of the season, he may be a better contender for a reserve opener. He needs to tour every country with India A first, though. With Wasim Jaffer likely to step out (he doesn't open the innings these days), he has a chance. May be a better bet than Vijay. Likewise Manoj Tiwary, who has impressive stats in FC, but has played just five games for India A.

It's a poor season for all-rounders. The only ones doing reasonably well on both fronts are Piyush Chawla and Sanjay Bangar. The others have failed on at least one front, or have been passable in both. Praveen Kumar began well, but didn't play on.

Posted this before in another thread but did anyone else read about the 6 year old kid who took 6-11 on debut in today's paper?

It's a good development. Let's just hope he doesn't end up like every other child star- stagnating. A good thing is that he looks six years old, and you can't really cheat at that age.

In the bigger league, Rajasthan are the only winners in the latest round. Every other team played for a draw and innings-lead points, which is really disappointing. The governing council should scrap the first-innings lead point system, or at the very least, reduce it to one point, and an outright win should get five. Already two teams that have lost fewer matches (Bengal, Haryana) are in danger of getting relegated, than two others who have lost more. Really disappointing round. Takes the sheen off the better batting performances by Mukund and Tiwary. TP Sudhindra's bowling should stand out, as he's now leading the wickets tally with nearly seven wickets a match. India A calling, surely.

Abhinav Mukund has been raking in some serious runs this season. Must surely be in the sights of the selectors, should an opening slot open up. Has the patience and attitude necessary for test cricket, but seemed to struggle with the ball coming in.

What do fans on the forum think of Ashok Dinda? He has been bowling well in First Class cricket (though perhaps not quite long enough for Test selection) and I also think he should have been given a go in ODI cricket. I think he is promising. He has pace and he swings it nicely.

Let Dinda finish fifty matches first, before he's eligible for selection. He's had a good season this time, but this is his only good season- outside of that, he's had an average over 30, which is very poor. Bowling-wise, he's very much a right-arm Irfan Pathan, so there's not much to expect here. What he's been doing, others have done better, or over a longer period of time. He's had more than a few India caps, and has largely been below international standard, and not even fast enough. There are better options, and they should get a chance first.

Taking a bagful of wickets, that's good for him, but there are better bowlers.

The likes of Dinda and TPS may be doing very well, but five seasons, A-team tours all over the world and Board XI games should finish before they have a shot at being India regulars.

RP Singh, on the other hand, should not play for India for over a season. His behaviour in the UP/Karnataka match is beyond acceptable. He was injured, and the captain felt he should go off mid-over, but he protested in such a dramatic fashion, it's very unbecoming of a former India regular and former captain of this side. Dire.

Dinda, on the other hand, was relatively professional, as he scalped five wickets, albeit for a princely 98 this time against Baroda. Baroda need little to get into the quarters, but Bengal are fighting a chance of relegation to Plate yet again. Irfan Pathan is slowly recovering his batting form, and another five-wicket haul cannot be ruled out. They would do well not to fluff like they did against Delhi, who handed them their only loss so far. Ganguly, who said Dinda should be going to Australia, took three wickets for just one run!

Also back in form was Dinesh Karthik, who stroked 60. This time around, more exemplary bowling performances were logged. RP Singh, on the other hand, was far from exemplary.

I heard some seriously good things about this young kid from Mumbai, Suryakumar Yadav - he is scoring some serious runs @ handy strike rate. A sign of a good cricketer really.

Has anyone seen him in action??

Wasim Jaffer breaks Amol Majumdar's record of highest runs in Ranji Trophy...
Congrats to Jaffer. Well deserved. So bad he couldnt continue his domestic form to international stage.

Best thing was that Amol Majumdar was in commentary box when Jaffer broke his record, Amol was so happy that a Mumbaikar broke his record
