Jayantha out finally. He looks a bit brainless out there.

Thommo and Tony Greig spending about an hour talking about the cheerleaders was hilarious and creepy at the same time. Sounded like two dirty old men Jerry Lawler style. Hopefully some big shots from Astle now.

Ali Murtaza is excellent shame he's going to be lost to the ICL as he's only 18. Mumbai making a real mess of this without Lara. 84/4 after 15.4

Kiwis doing the job here. Might have input on the prices for their team-mates in the IPL tomorrow.

Bond made a fool of Astle in that over. He is so damn good. 4 overs 0/18.

EDIT: Such a meh 115 off 20. At least we get to see that chick during the innings break.

Kits are awful; production values non-existent, **** choice of commentators, unattractive dancing girls, crap music, a poor 20/20 wicket and on top of all that there are so many empty seats.

Hopefully the IPL are taking note of what not to do.

A bit harsh on the commentary. Mike Whitney has been one of the funniest things that could have ever happened to televised cricket. He's TV's version of Kerry.

Some of the dancers were good sorts. Just not enough boundaries to see enough of them ;)

The lack of atmosphere (due to lots of empty series) is the biggest set back to me The other stuff I can live with.

Yeah, I can't imagine the ICL lasting much longer. Estimates on when it will go under? After 2 more tournaments IMO. No one will give the slightest crap about it after seeing the IPL and how superior the quality will be.

The actual cricket has been very watchable. Still some genuine class players on show. But you guys are right in that the BCCI has killed any hype associated with the ICL.

That was an awesome throw by Tino. Delhi in some trouble now.

The banning of ICL players from International cricket obviously stopped the top drawr players signing. But now the banning of players from some domestic comps too means now you arn't even going to get the 3rd & 4th tier players signing up which is a bit of shame. I would like to see some English players who are not going to get a chance at International level playing on differnt stage.

The only big names they are going get are retired players now.

The more I watch and read about this, the more I like it and the more I think it is doomed to failure.

The quality of players is very good and the long format gives it a real feeling of a legit comp.

However, the empty seats are a real worry. Give them away for Christs sake. Best way to promote a product is to make people think they are part of something popular and exciting.

Empty seats (crowds of 200 :-O ) reenforces that this a breakaway league (even if it was the first).

Also the fact that in the IPL thread, people mentioned that the Indian public want to see the Indian stars. The lack of top Indian names hurts the draw of this comp, even if there are some very tidy overseas players. They should have broke the bank to lure a few older big name Indian players.

The production values oare ordinary and the kits are terrible. But underneath it all there is a decent comp.

The planning and organisation is ordinary but it will be a shame when this eventually folds.

Ali Murtaza is excellent shame he's going to be lost to the ICL as he's only 18.
Agreed, he looks good.

I think once the league folds, there'll be some reconciliation and the players will be allowed back. Or at least I hope. Or the BCCI could keep them banned forever to make an example of them so they can discourage any other leagues.

I think they are all already pretty much free. They are priced at 200 rupees ($4-$5 USD). So they aren't making much money off the tickets - in which case you're right - might as well give them away free and allow people to come and watch.

There has been an issue with the prices increasing this time around.

They are now Rs.200 and Rs.500 compared to being earlier Rs.100 and Rs.150.

Empty stadiums are a curse. Make them free, give them to school children, pay people. Just dont try and sell a new product that appears unpopular. Especially as its a pretty decent product when you look at it

Have watched the first 2 matches and it really has been woeful.

People who think ODIs are boring should watch this stuff

Even if the play is just as boring, or worse (which is impossible) than an ODI, it would still be miles better considering it is less than half as long.
