Indian Cricket League thread

Haha yeah, remember that CV situation now you mention it.

Over here it's different because:
a) ECB central contracts and county contracts don't compete - a player can have both and
b) there are only 12 of them anyway, as opposed to the 25(?) that CA use

Is there any thing to ban guys like Lara and Inzy from playing in the BCCI's premier league AND in the ICL?
Since the BCCI considers the ICL a rebel league and is doing everything in their power to destroy it, I would be surprised if it allowed players to play for both leagues.

Yeah, the fact that the BBCI has condemned the ICL for being a rebel league suggests they aren't too fond of the idea. I think that those Indian players who signed for the ICL gave up the right to play under the BBCI and in the Indian domestic competition.

Rohan gavasker signed, signings are a trickle.
ICL and the global 20/20 comp are competing for glen mcgrath's services.

as far as last heard they are some 50 players short from domestic level

they where planning to have some 10 teams and around 70 siging have taken so far
including international players

with a team consisting of 14 players they will have to find another 70 players or reduce the team nos...

Whatever it takes!!!

yeah, but if they can get Lara in their league, it would be a different thing, right? They may even offer to buy out his contract with ICL and get him in their thing....

Also, I don't think the ICL will restrict their players from playing other tournaments outside their window. Only the BCCI won't allow that and I don't think they will do that with marquee names like Lara and Inzy...

I agree that it's not likely but it would surely be a wise move for BCCI to buy away one of the big names from the ICL. It is not like they don't have the money for it.

ICL quite clearly mentioned on their day of inception that the first year tournament would be a Twenty20 thing with 6 teams.... Dunno when they mentioned about 10 teams etc...

I would say more like 60 players,10 overseas players 50 domestic players.
The comp is 6 teams, and all 20/20 games, altho they want to expand it later on.

Seems now that the new global competition by the bcci and ca its now competing for players for signatures,it already looks like warne and mcgrath will sign up.
I strongly doubt the icl has 20 overseas players on their list of signed players.

More money making schemes from BCCI.
I thought they were against 20/20 cricket... they seemed to have done a complete u turn on this.

Presumably due to the chance to interact with other Cricket Boards. Doubt they'd have done such a thing had it been an India-only venture.

Because if they(those Cricket Boards) do not allow their cricketers to do so they could be challenged in those countries courts of Law as unfairly restraining Trade, since these cricketers are not part of the ICC sanctioned 20/20 league.

This is particularly so for Cricketers from Pakistan,Sri Lanka, New Zealand and West Indies among others.

Guess PCB and BCCSL look like an ass now for threatening their players with bans (presumely) at the behest of BCCI. BCCI treats them like dirt once again and didn't even invite them to join the PCL.

So next time these boards show their Asian solidarity and align with BCCI blindly, they should think twice.

I am not sure What Fleming is doing at the launch , since NZ is not even part of this league.

This may be a guess, but this seems to be a payoff for him rejecting the ICL offer.
