I'd say one out of 5 should be rotational tbh.
1st Test Delhi - Variable bounce
2nd Test Chennai - Classic red soil spin friendly track or a road depending on who we play
3rd Test at Dharamshala (or a random venue that changes every time) - Bounce, pace and cracks on day 4
4th Test Kolkata - Green track for the lolz
5th Test Mumbai - Spin friendly or a normal Indian track that starts out being friendly to batsmen before deteriorating or becoming a road

Well Motera definitely has to be one of the 5, considering they have splurged on it to be the world's biggest stadium.
Would remove Mumbai. Mohali and Bangalore are better.

5 is too few. About 8 would be right. As I said in other thread, traditionally the venues that got tests were limited to – Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Kanpur, Nagpur, Mohali. Limit to these venues. No point taking tests to Ranchi, Vizag or Indore.

They should play a few tests at Afghanistan's home ground as well. That should be done twice a year.

Kohli essentially wants to emulate Australia and England where teams who come to play a 4 or 5 test series know where they are going to play beforehand and there are some expectations built in with each venue and that creates a legacy in due course of time.
