Does anyone remember Mohinder Amarnath getting sacked as the selector? There is a reason why we have some of these dummies as selectors, Amarnath was not a puppet and wanted to make his own decisions, even willing to replace MSD as the captain for tests.

I mean India didn't produce a lot of quality test class left handers in recent memory. Gambhir actually was a top draw at his peak. Even talented folks like Yuvi Raina failed at test level.

Really hope in coming years we have few solid left handed options in Top & middle order. Jaiswal Sundar look like they have something about them. Maybe Kishan too

Yuvraj's test career was a weird one. He did play 40 games but he was constantly in and out of the team. I don't know why no one saw him as a proper batting AR(in selected conditions), his bowling was terribly under-utilised. He was generally bowling a couple of overs here and there and not getting proper spells.

We were really spoilt for riches back then even at domestic level. Someone like Yuvi would be gun for us at this moment with his bowling ability in Test cricket. Kohli & Shastri were Desperate for a left-handed A/R in England & it paid dividends.
Cupboard looks really bare right now considering no FC cricket in last 2 years now.

Agreed. Right now Vihari's added value is his steady off-spin since we seriously lack part-timers(even though he is not that great with the ball). And earlier we had the likes of Sachin, Sehwag, Yuvi and Ganguly who could all bowl pretty well and were way more effective than someone like Vihari.

We have plenty of bowling ARs atm. We need more batsmen who can chip in with a few overs. I hope Hardik can resume bowling soon and Krunal gets a bit better with the ball. Hooda is also a good option white ball cricket.

Another Shoaib Akhtar gem

“There is a difference between Pakistan and India. The Indians are producing good fast bowlers, but what they are lacking is the rare energy - that anger on your face, that attitude that I am going to just kill you," noted Akhtar while speaking on a podcast alongside Australia legend Brett Lee.
Akhtar believes the difference between the two is due to “the environment and food.”

“You become what you eat, right? My nation eats lots of animals and we end up being like animals. When it comes to fast bowlers, we just run in like lions," he further explained.

 :punk:

No matter what he says or how stupid it sounds, I can never bring myself to hate Shoaib..

Pant is opening in ODIs, really loving how Dravid/Sharma have started to make some positive changes in our ODI approach. This way we can fit thakela Rahul lower in the ODI batting order while having aggressive options at the top.

This team is a goddamn circus. What a few months

OK, I always thought that Kohli+Shastri combo was overrated, but this is a bloody shock. Rahane is tactically sharp and a natural leader. It's petty as **** if someone else really took away the credit for his ideas/captaincy. I think Rahane must be talking about bevda and not Kohli.

Rahane was still giving Kohli back rubs in the dressing room in SA so it can't be him he's bitching out. And I'm pretty certain Shastri's been publicly vocal in his support for Rahane all along while he was doing sweet ****all with bat in hand. The only one coming across petty here is Rahane himself. Waits till his career's done (god I hope it's done) to make ambiguous accusations, doesn't take names either. What a *****, didn't think he'd turn out like this.

This is great. I’m sure there’s some truth in Rahane’s #salt but boy does he come across as an absolute clown here.
