It's much closer 12-8 than 17-3.

India aren't as great a side as some like to think, and SL aren't as bad.

Doent matter. India will play SL twice , maybe thrice in the Asia cup. As long as those 2 matches fall into the '12' portion of the 12-8, I'm happy :sailor:

The better side is the one Steve Bucknor is on.
GREAT ONE!!!!!! The Indians will have to recall Srinath- Bucknor always gifts him a few wickets. Ganguly should also be dropped, since he's not Bucknor's favourite batsman. But Bucknor has occasionally helped Murali get 5 wickets an innings a few times.

Yeah , but the question is 'who is the better team? "

I think India at present would win 17 out of 20 games vs SL.

i very much doubt it....in fact i am fairly sure that won't happen...it will be much closer than that...you are overhyping india and underestimating sri lanka....

Ahh now the Sri Lanka we saw beat India on Sunday really looks the business. The talk about Sri Lanka having a major problem with their batting is unfounded. It is true that Sanath Jayasuriya is past his prime and is struggling for form. But in Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara and Marvan Atapattu we have a trio of world class, talented (maybe not always consistent) batsman. They really picked the substandard Indian bowling apart. Irfan Pathan was the only bowler who bowled with aggression and consistency. Anil Kumble is nothing more than a mediocre medium pace bowler and Zaheer Khan needs to sort out his fitness. India should recall Ashish Nehra, he is one of their most explosive fast bowlers.

At the moment in Asia Cup I think definitely Pakistan and Sri Lanka have the superior bowling attacks. The Murali myth should now be gone from those confused Indian fans he is not the only good bowler. As you can see your best batsman (Sehwag, Ganguly and 'The Little Master!') had problems facing Nuwan Zoysa who in my eyes is the best Sri Lankan bowler at the moment.

India have two big problems: overconfidence and complacency. Their lack of motivation was clearly exposed on Sunday. I think Virender Sehwag needs to stop exercising his mouth and stop pursuing ridiculous personal targets (namely 200 in ODI cricket). Tendulkar really needs to regain his title of 'Little Master' which seems more like 'Big Choker' at the moment!

Sri Lanka may not be the best team in the world and for this reason they are not complacent. They are moderate and realistic in their goals. Their focus and determination helped them to convincingly beat the lack lustre Indians on Sunday. India should learn a damn good lesson from their C*ap performance on Sunday: do not assume that their individual 11 superstars are necessarily the best team.

There seems to be a lot of reacting to the result of just one game here.

India are generally the better team, and will tend to be more successful than the Sri lankan team, but the gap between the two isnt that great.

As has been said numerous times before (usually when Indian fans are saying how much better India are than England)...all of the middle bunch of teams (India,Pakistan,SA,England,WI,SA,NZ in no particular order) can beat each other on any given day...although I would say that maybe India,NZ and SA are probably just ahead of the rest in that grouping

It was but one game, and all it served to prove IMO is that India are still in a gorup, along with Pakistan, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, South Africa, England and West Indies, where sides in ODI's are very evenly matched over time.

Up to the Natwest, England's form wasn't that bad.

Note I said over time to cover for short term injuries etc.
