then it can also be argued that NZ is a better team than india since they had the better of the 2 series against them......
And by continuation, that England are better than NZ.

Resulting in: England > NZ > India > Australia.

Shows just how useless that argument is.

In the Indian team, Ganguly is a liability on a fielding side- he can't bend to stop a ball. He has dropped a few easy ones, too. Nehra is a joke when without the ball- everyone knows that. Kumble is not that great either. The Lankans are a good fielding side, with only one weak link- Russel Arnold. However, they don't have quick reflex fielders or accurate throwers in their side, while the Indians have a few.
Sri Lanka also have Mahela Jayawardene, Murali, Zoysa, and Dilhara Fernando who are poor. The others like Attapatu and Vaas aren't that good either. In our team, Yuvraj and Kaif are both excellent, Sehwag and Dravid are very good. Sachin, Pathan, Balaji, Agarkar are all good.

Right let me get this right - SL's tail is weak, so that means their top order aren't mentioned?

Also, Jayawardene is poor, but Pathan, Balaji and Agarkar are all good?

8-)

Mahela was a good slip catcher, but he has his problems these days, but he's not a liability. Zoysa's just average, like Kumble. Dilhara can dive or slide to stop balls. Atapattu is a good fielder, Vaas is average, but their best fielder is Chandana (quite good) and Muralitharan (a big bonus when your best bowler is a good fielder) but no weak links. Hashan has retired, Dilhan Avishka is not a Test prospect and the only one left is Arnold. They don't have too many great, electrifying fielders. India have Yuvraj (rated by Sidhu as the best fielder in action, with Ricky Ponting, better than Gibbs) and Kaif, and several others, but against the Australians, they have been found wanting.

If you ask me, I get the idea the Lankan selectors were still living in 1998. Otherwise, would you find Dharmasena, Chandana, Hashan, Arnold and a worn-out Kalu playing? I won't be surprised if Pramodya Wickramasinghe(?) gets a Test and ODI recall.

SL needs a new batting lineup. Of course, Sanath, Marvan and Sangakkara can stay. Not so much the others. Saman Jayantha is an interesting player to watch.

Without doubt.. INDIA

Waste of a question this really !!
I was expecting more analytical answers. Besides, these two sides have not seen enough of each other.

I'll go out on a limb and say that Sri Lanka wont win a single game vs India.
Then how did the Indians lose so many matches so badly in Sri Lanka in 2001?

India.. And once Murali goes, we won't even be having this discussion...
I do recall Sri Lanka making England follow on at Lords in 2002.

Then Michael Vaughan's golden run began.

umm ODI matches anyone can win?
Yeah , but the question is 'who is the better team? "

I think India at present would win 17 out of 20 games vs SL.
