You can't make jokes about an institution like Imran Khan.
In fact in the 1992 World Cup he was quite fortunate on a few occasions. The weather saving them from elimation as mentioned. In the semi-final he bowled like a spod and was the most expensive bowler, he also batted slowly and put great pressure on the later batsman and Pakistan were saved by a slogged 60 by the young Inzaman. In the Final he also batted very slowly, they were 35-2 off 17 overs when he spooned a miss-hit into the leg side and was inches from being caught. Had that been caught the result could have different.

Cricket, Lovely Cricket
It is hardly 'dire' though, asking a question about cricket on a cricket forum8-)
It was a dire comment according to me. There is a subtle difference between calling you trash and calling an opinion of yours trash. As Fusion said, we weren't jumping on you. 8-)

I get the feeling that the majority of votes on this topic may be slanted by countries of origin.
It may have worked better if each player had a entry next to the various test countries and one for the nontest places.

Eg:

Australia
Imran:
Miller:
England
Imran:
Miller:
etc

And then the winner is the man who won the most countries.

Pretty gun idea, with the countries with the most voters having a little more weight than the countries with fewer voters.

It suggests that we can not be un-biased, I would be happy to put Sobers in front of Miller and Richards in front of Chappell.G

And Imran in front of McGrath

Let's take a trip to Dr Wizzard's Laboratory.

Pakistan were saved from elimination by the weather - beyond dispute.
He was the most expensive bowler in the semi--final - beyond dispute
He was the slowest batsman - beyond dispute
Pakistan got back into contention due to 60 from 48 balls from Inzi - beyond dispute
He was almost caught from a miss-hit on the leg-side when Pakistan had crawled to 35-2 off 17 overs - beyond dispute.

Your reading the Botham bio, he mentions something about a missed catch, not sure if it was in the Pakistan game:wacko:

I could look it up but that would mean going up stairs:-O

The Botham bio has nothing to do with it, I haven't even reached the 1992 World Cup yet - in fact one of the things I'm looking forward to is Botham's description of his joke dismissal in the Final.

Oh okay, well then you will enjoy his Imran comments then:ph34r:

Engle

State Vice-Captain
Leading from the front, he slotted himself at the # 3 position to stabilize the batting line-up.
A masterly move when you consider how volatile Pak batting can be. As when they lost their nerve and collapsed for 130+ vs Aus in the WC99 final

Brilliant !

Engle

State Vice-Captain
He brought WasimAkram (who was being saved for the later overs) back into the attack to halt a burgeoning p'ship between Lamb and Fairbrother, with devastating effect.

Brilliant again !

Engle

State Vice-Captain
He encouraged his players not to give up in the face of almost certain elimination by the famous ‘ cornered tigers ‘ speech when all supporters had just about given up.

Leadership personified.

In the Semi-Final he miscalculated the overs each bowler had bowled and had to use another bowler for one over which cost 11 runs.............genius again.
