How would 80s WI and 2000s Australia fare in unbeatable current India?

Exactly. India got so unlucky.
I mean, you can spot context there with Ponting, but not when I point out that Tendulkar was in a slump during the same period when you disingenuously suggest his presence would have made the difference between the two teams.

Yeah, that's literally why they won.
Not really. His replacement was Lehmann if I recall who didn't exactly have a huge series.

I believe he averaged more than 3??

Bud, we had Mohammad Kaif and Dinesh Karthik in our lineup. I'm taking Sachin even in an arm-sling over those blokes. The one test we won, Sachin played a brilliant knock.

If Ponting had been available, it's likely Michael Clarke doesn't play lol. Considering what happened in the Bangalore test, I'll let you decide how that would've worked out for Australia in an alternate universe. I wasn't even memeing... Ponting missing those games was genuinely a huge break for them.

These are all what-ifs. Reality is that Tendulkar wasn't near their top bat in good form at that time and we don't know how Ponting would have performed. It's not like the margin of victory in the tests Aus won was low or something that we have to keep guessing. Tendulkar was in the 3rd test which India lost and the 2nd test was washed out on the last day.

It's a really flimsy excuse to just downplay Aus victory as if you really believe he made that difference, which you don't.

Yeah, no one knows how Ricky Ponting would've done in a test match in India you really are an imbecile. It's like wondering what a blind duckling would do if you dropped it in a crocodile infested pond. A true "what-if" that will be debated forever lmao.

Also, if you're having a whine about this, don't then cry about McGrath being missing to write off the games India won vs Australia. Muppet,

Yeah we don't know since in the next two series he scored decent runs.

So by your own admission you are whining by bringing up Tendulkar?

And unlike you, I already conceded that we accept the series result McGrath was missing as binding.

A key point that's not brought up in 2001 is that there was this one guy called Anil Kumble who missed the whole series. The GOAT team couldn't beat us with our primary home weapon missing. Got to go down as one of the ATG chokes.
You're right what a bunch of pansies those Aussies turned out to be. Absolute crap win by India there.

Mate, the dude who came in for Ponting was Michael Clarke who debuted at Bangalore and smashed a match winning 150. Lehmann is irrelevant, not sure why he even brought him up.
I just find it odd that Aus having bench players who perform is somehow a slight on them.

I only brought Ponting up to show it's not a slam dunk argument to say a big name was missing and ignore an entire series result.

They were lucky they got to use their bench because the established dude who was a failure in India was missing. Don't try to weasel out of addressing it. You got proven wrong as usual, now admit it like a man instead of trying to change the topic with a "boohoo please dont disrespect daddy Australia :("
