How is your season?

Today was a biggie, I take my cricket rather seriously and I've been waiting fiive years to put on the baggie blue and walk out behind the skipper for the college first team..

The match was a long long one, timed but with one innings per side.. In all 107 overs were bowled today, Im totally knackered and we couldn't quite force a result, so a draw first up..

Coming in at number 7 I hit 24 not out before our skipper called us in.. Took 5-1-29-2 with the ball.. I didnt bowl very well because I was so nervous.. We pull some big crowds and its a joy to play in front of, but nerve-wracking... Very happy with my debut though.. We play the MCC next week and I really hope I can get involved..

Career figures look like

458 runs @ 28.63 in 23 matches (HS 83*, 4x50 0x100)
35 wickets @ 14.74 (ER 4.10)

my season is crap. I had 3 clubs interested in me playing for them. 1 I turned down because I didn't fit in and the other 2 seem to have forgot about me. :(

On the bright side, I'm helping coach our schools year 7's and they won their first match yesterday by 44 runs

My team had a rather remarkable/strange season. We were second last at christmas (which is virtually half way through the season) with only one win and a tie. We then won every game after christmas except against the eventual premiers.

Then going into the last round, we were ninth, with a top 6 finals system. We were 5 points out, and resigned to missing the finals (not that we really deserved to be there anyway) but the teams placed 6th, 7th and 8th all lost games they should have won, and so we snuck into the finals.

Playing the top side, we rolled them for 200 and passed them 6 down, and then in the semi final we got 4/388 dec, but the team we were playing just went for a draw. We had 27 overs at them 8 wickets down, and couldn't get those last two wickets. So close to a grand final. Pity I contributed sweet f.a. all year  , got carried through.

mines been crap. been spending alot of time at the wickets, but not making any runs :(

Only played 6 games however, as i went to india to meet my rellies back in nov/dec. and came back late.

Played a game the day after i got back from india, with no training whatsoever. Had been playing alot of tennis ball cricket, and i found myself trying to play the lofted cover drive for everything outside off :P

Made the scratchiest 2 runs in my life. really it was only one run, but the umpire gave runs off the bat, for one that only clipped pad

Out of interest what is a defendable score generally in your grades people?

Im talking 50 over games.

As captain I feel that 180 is a defendable score but remember I do live in NZ and most of the pitches are ****

This pitch that we played in The ball wasnt even comming to the bat and the out field was like **** the ball wasnt evern traveling at all and Teh batsman had to work for their runs although their was alot fo the bowlers.

Well, Richard wouldn't have been please with my 44*. I was dropped and may have been out hit wicket, but I was sure the keeper knocked the bails off with his legs.

well here we go
played 3 games

battining

innings .runs not out . highest score.
2 5 2 4

im battiing at no.9 this season but i think in the next match its gonna be higher.
the 4 as highest score comes after i batted about 45 balls. in a 25 over game.came in about the 10th over.and batted till the end wen the other tailenders did their job as best as they could.

bowling

overs maidens wickets runs
3 0 0 21

im classed as a bowler this season but i was an allrounder last season.
didnt do much bowling cuz first game i bowled crap second match didnt bowl and third match had 1 over on a spinners wicket and wasnt even bowling at my usual pace i was walkin in and just puttin the ball on spot as they needed 9 runs to win.

so it was a very poor season so far and its almost over
